She was at Pearl Harbour Talbot, so yes she survived. I'd love to know more. Will post a photo later.

The Attack on Pearl Harbor - December 7, 1941

I'll be thinking of my great Aunt May, also known as Sister Dorothea. An Irish nun who was at a convent on the island and helped with the injured as she was also a trained nurse. I'd love to know more about her, but am struggling to find out any more.

    The Walking Dead on AMC

I'm loving it!!! Love the zombie genre anyway, but loved the old GN. Find it funny how many of our Brit actors like Andrew Lincoln and Hugh Laurie are in so many US dramas!

    Sleeping w/gloves on?

I do when my hands are really dry, in the last few days the snow here has chapped my lips and hands and I found that good old fashioned hand cream in cotton gloves made a difference last night. I do the foot thing once or twice a month, more in summer.

What my grandmother told me about life in the 1940s.

I always remember my mother telling me that her mother had tea made for the Gypsies when they travelled through, but made them drink out of Jam Jars as she 'didn't trust them with the china' :-S

    1940s Christmas Recordings

I love 'O holy night' but the one that always gets me is 'have yourself a merry little Christmas' as sung by Judy Garland in 'Meet me in St Louis' I always loved the film as a child, my dad was a real film buff and before he died in 1998 he bought me a music box which played it. I have lots...

BBC - Turn Back Time - The High Street

Sadly not at the majority of '40s' events...It's not just 'inaccurate' it's altering what was a reality to so many. Of course when I look back to the 80s, I remember the Rubiks cube, Madonna, the shock of Boy George! But I also remember the power cuts, the Falklands conflict and Dynasty! I...

The difference being, you'll look like Rita if you make them, I'll just look like a stout holiday camp rep from the 50s! lol! x

It's a very similar treatment to an 1855 dress that I'm working on...this isn't my era at all, hence if anyone wants it, just drop me a pm. No charge.

I'm not sure that I'd agree, I already find public perception of WW2 an altered reality..

Anyone know of a book showing WW2 RAF Cufflinks?

any private purchase ones will suffice, a lot of men made their own from two RAF brass buttons and a link. Very easy to find the privately produced ones on ebay ranging in quality and price. K
