    Washing rayon?

I just had a thought - what about Kitty Litter? It works if you stick it into smelly trainers! I have never tried it with fabrics and obviously wouldn't let it touch the garment, but one of it's main jobs is to absorb odours.

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

A couple of years ago I was on holiday in Tunisia and went to the souk in Tunis which is huuge. I had a copy of the Rough Guide to Tunisia with me which gave the way to the second hand clothes section of the Souk, which very few tourists go to (probably because it's a nightmare to find!) looking...

    office sealed since the `30s

WOW! All that stuff just below the surface. Don't you just feel like getting a sledgehammer? It'd be like being Howard Carter! I have a recurring dream where I live in a house (that doesn't look a bit like my present abode), then I suddenly find it has an entire hidden wing. Now...

    Who is today's Steve McQueen?

I think Clooney is todays Burt Lancaster. He's smart, acts, directs, and has intergrity and charm to boot.

    Sculpture Pin Curler

Hmmm, the lo-tech version, I like your thinking dannimac! I'm not sure it'd work with my super fine hair, but it's worth a go!

    office sealed since the `30s

I grew up in Liverpool just up the road from The Royal Hippodrome Theatre. It was originally built in the 1870's as Hengler's Circus and had live animal acts and the circus arena could be flooded in under a minute for aquatic acts. It was a huge building and originally had beautiful mosaics on...

The general decline in standards today

But having a gun sure makes it a hell of a lot easier.

    Sculpture Pin Curler

The one that Tatum posted about looks about right for my budget, especially if it just ends up sitting in a drawer! Anyone know of a stockist in the UK?

To 3D or not to 3D - that is the question...

The new Batman film was specifcally shot for the IMAX as Nolan doesn't rate 3D much (or overuse of CGI either, hurrah!) I also really object to paying the extra, especially when you either end up with a drawer full of glasses or end up giving them back. If you must release films in 3D then let...

To 3D or not to 3D - that is the question...

What do you all think of the current vogue for 3D films? Whilst I do enjoy the hokey appeal of the early 3D films, the current bunch leave me cold. I find the glasses a distraction and I always leave the cinema with a vague headache. I didn't go to see Promethius recently because our local...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Ditto, The Dark Knight Rises. A very complex film that I'm still digesting. Nolan is, I think, one of the finest directors out there at the moment. He's very old school, still shoots on film, won't film in 3D (hurrah!) and shoots all his own stuff rather than delegating it to an AD. I wish...

    Sculpture Pin Curler

Iv'e only just heard of the Sculpture Pin Curler and being rubbish at pin curls it looks ideal for me. I do have fine straight hair and find curling it a nightmare as it just slips out of rollers. However, I do seem to have a cupboard cluttered with gadgets I either can't use or think are no good...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I loved Batman The Animated Series! I used my son as an excuse to watch it when it was on the telly and recently tracked some down on DVD. Until the Heath Ledger version Mark Hamil was the Joker for me. Dark, scary and very well done.

    Style magazines for ladies?

The Chap is quite a good read, I often pinch my husbands copy. There is occasionally features for ladies, often written by Fleur. I bought Vintage Life magazine once and really didn't rate it at all, nonsense and fluff and not worth reading at all. It seemed to be aimed at teenage girls who...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I can see the Vera Lynn resemblance. I have an albumn of her early recordings and you do look like her when she was young, that is a complement by the way!

    Show Us Your Purchases!

Oohh, I wish we did that over here! Most of our suburbs arn't that big, but I bet it'd be popular. When I moved to this house 10 years ago I did a 'yard sale', still pretty unusual over here and was amazed how busy I was. I do live on a busy road though. The neighbours looked a bit horrified...

    Question for the bottle blondes!

I'm a natural dark blonde and have been just about every shade imaginable in the past. Right now I have a white blonde streak at the front and one side that I bleach myself. It is pretty wrecked to be honest as a result of leaving the bleach on too long a couple of months ago and quite a bit has...
