I think it's because people genuinely find it hard to put an age on a woman who isn't either dressed like something from Jersey Shore or Mrs Thatcher. They probably just don't know how to take you. There's a wonderful history teacher in my school who's very into the 50's, with a beehive and...
I have probably said this before but I think that 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' is a modern cult classic. Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer are great and it is very funny, the bit in the bar with the lookalike celebs is a killer.
I really liked that the kids really arn't very sympathetic at all, but you do 'get' where they are coming from. The aliens are waaay cooler than E.T. though!
As they are essentially black, white and red, could you get matching checkerboard fabric for the top and bottom of replacement white panels and just not have the embriodered bits on those?
Attack The Block, again. Not a FL film by any means but very funny and the aliens are brilliant in it. I also used to live around the corner from where it was filmed. We moved when we had kids!
I have tried this a couple of times and both times have come out looking like a bag lady! I think my hair is just too fine and slippery to hold the band properly. If I had longer and thicker hair it'd probably be fine. Some of the results I have seen on here with it are lovely.
Update! I washed my dress in the bath with some baby shampoo (yes, I know, but I didn't have time to go any buy some Woolite and I couldn't wait) - and it turned out just fine! I just hung it on a hanger and left it to drip dry, job done.
I think a lot of us on the Lounge (as in life) got into vintage through the various youth cults of the 80's. Fast forward and a most of us are now in our 40's and still like to 'dress up'. I wore a lot of vintage when I was a teenager in the 80's mainly because it was cheap, available, unusual...
I started to colour my own hair again after I lost my job and it's not bad (and I have saved a fortune). I do my white streak myself every 3 weeks or so. If i'm honest I have overdone the timings on that a couple of times and my (white) hair is very damaged now, but as it's only a streak I don't...
Boy On a Dolphin. A luminous Sophia Loren and slightly past-it Alan Ladd (with an ever marvellous Clifton Webb).
Not the worlds greatest film by any means and I hardly know anyone who has seen it but I just love it. 1950's Greece and Sophia in glorious technicolour - just wonderful. I have seen...
My husband went completely vintage a few years ago and I do find it attractive....but.. I do occasionally find it ages him somewhat. He's 43 with a handlebar moustache and if he's head to toe in tweed, or in a fairisle tank top (as is often the case) I think it makes him look like an Edwardian...
I may be having a senior moment but I can't for the life of me remeber who Beth was! She looked familiar but... I swear I have seen all the episodes but I think I may subconciously 'forget' anything to do with Pete as she has such a smackable face!
Can anyone please remind me? I think I may...
Thanks all, especially Alice~ that's just great and I shall now wash with confidence! I always thought that baby shampoo was super gentle, I have heard it's good for washing woollens.
Whist I sure this question has been asked many times I did a search and couldn't find the answer: can rayon be handwashed? I have a lovely late 40's dress that I usually get drycleaned but I'd really rather handwash it so I can wear it more often. I was thining of gently handwashing in baby...
