It is (Wintermans) CAO also entered into a distribution relationship with Carlos Toraño, who makes a lot of cigars on their own and for so many others (CAO and Gurkha spring immediately to mind.) CAO distributes, Toraño with the infrastructural assistance of Wintermans.

The new line, the La Gloria Cubana Artesano will be made in Miami. Don't forget Henri Wintermans. They own CAO. Tonight was a 601 with the red label.

    Southern Cooking!

I don't. I'm sorry. We use a *gasp* mix, but it's a local one that sells for $1.39 per pack, and feeds four of us. I adapt it by sauteeing onions and garlic after I render the sausage. In addition, instead of water, I use chicken broth.

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

El Credito has been making La Gloria Cubana abroad for years. During the boom, when it was still independent, they couldn't meet demand from that little factory so they moved to the Dominican. Ernesto Perez-Carillo is still in charge, but he sold out to General Cigars/Swedish Match a number of...

    Southern Cooking!

I'm from New Orleans, which is located near the southern coast of the United States, but isn't really "the South." We're more the northernmost city of the Caribbean, than "the South" although we go through the South whenever we leave. To clarify an earlier post, there are TWO styles of...

    Cigar, Cigarette...

Obviously I don't. I try to be as courteous as possible, and ignore the snide remarks I DO get. Ironically, what few I get are from cigarette smokers who think they're being funny. At this point, ignoring the fanning and fake cough are enough. Another interesting experience I've had this...

    Your cigar TOP 5

Nice list Eduard. I haven't had all the cigars on your list, but they're all accompanied by sterling reputations. I dearly enjoy the Choix Supremes, the San Cristobal el Principe is my choice in that brand. I've had a couple Opus X, but they don't do it for me. Waaaaaaay too expensive for...

    Cigar, Cigarette...

Thanks Gecko. I smoke about three or four cigars a week average per year. It's gotten higher since the summer started because we can smoke at my sons' playground, and a cigar during baseball practice or baseball games is a natural. Find a shady spot, away from the other parents and enjoy.

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Hey guys. Last cigar was Thursday night, my buddy went to Philly for a conference and caught the staff at Holt's putting out a box of Arturo Fuente Añejos. Before that, Monday night, was a Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic. Those are little pepper bombs, but so tasty in spite of it. The big...

    Notable Cigar Aficionados

Yes, he still smokes. Nice thread, thank you. It is reported that Mark Twain bought his cigars by the barrel, and that they were some of the nastiest cigars available. But, smoke what you like and like what you smoke.

    Tinnitus "Fixes" ?

I'm having a bit of it right now, but I think I have an ear infection. My mother, however, has Meniere's, of which tinnitus is a symptom, and the louder the tinnitus, the worse dizziness, nausea an diarrhea she has. Excessive fluid is an issue with tinnitus, thus the low-salt/no-salt diets...

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

601 is a damn fine cigar. As has been said, it's made by Don Pepin Garcia, for Eddie Ortega and Erik Espinoza's United Tobacco. Good smoking.
