ET, that's a tremendous story, thank you for sharing. In fact, you'll have a PM your way, soon.
That $7 Macanudo....well, among cigar snobs, to some extent, the Macanudo is a beginner cigar, they're mild, yet have a nice enough flavor that they draw in the newbies. That said, Macanudo is what...
LCdH=La Casa del Habano. It's the only "official" shop of Habanos S. A. the company that produces all the fine Habanos brands of cigars. You have a better than even chance of getting counterfeit Cuban cigars unless you're in an La Casa del Habano. One must even be critical in hotels.
Stay...
Be careful where you buy, BobC. I don't think there's an LCdH in Nassau anymore. The only one used to be at the Graycliff, but they don't have that, anymore.
Jose Seijas has been on a short tour just this month, promoting this new cigar of his. He's not normally one to go out on tour and meet the public.
OOPs, tonight was a Partagas Serie D No.4 from 2005. Doesn't get much better.
Hi guys.
I don't think it wise to mention vendors or sources of Cuban Cigars out in open forum like this.
The Tinder Box is a national chain, but the guy who owns that Tinder Box in Mobile, Roger McLain is a good guy. His son Charles is nice, as well. I've met them a few times in the last three...
I didn't smoke nuthin'
The PI Chiefs are still available, my local shop has them. Talking to José Ortega a few months ago when he was here in New Orleans for a tasting, he was telling a story of an old guy who ONLY smokes Chiefs. But he'll only smoke one or two cigars per week.
Most good online tobacconists have samplers and they're a great way to start.
If you'll indulge a few suggestions?
At this very early beginning point, I'd say to buy smaller cigars for the sampler.
Do a "corona" or "robusto" sizes that way he's not trying to work his way through a huge...
I've never had a good re-lit cigar.
I'd order and smoke smaller cigars. Not only does it make it less likely you'll waste a cigar or have to put it down and relight, it also gives you a chance at some variety should you have the time and/or occasion for more than the one small cigar...
Interesting smokes lately folks.
How is everyone?
Let's see what can I add to this? I can't remember what I had the weekend before Gustav. This past weekend, back home, Saturday a regular Cuba Aliados robusto before supper and a Romeo y Juilieta Churchill after. Wow, what a landmark cigar...
If I remember correctly the Tabak Negra is NOT new. It's their old Kahlua line. Drew Estate was forced to change the name recently as Kahlua backed out of the deal not wanting to be associated with smoking, any longer.
Had a Monte #3 with ten years on it, last night. Lovely smoked it down to...
Sabrosos? As Lew said in the ad copy, it's a boom brand that went Ka-BOOM. Even though made by Swisher and Nestor Plasencia....I'd stay away. Lew himself would say a bad cigar with ten years of age is just a bad ten-year-old cigar.
That Swedish Match acquisition of CI has been huge.
