This picture made me laugh - did anyone notice how hilarious the contrast is between Dita and the modern people in the background??? Sometimes it surprises me how much has changed in fashion in such a little amount of time!
Actually - I have been noticing this phenomena with mostly everything vintage nowadays
It used to be that you could get a really nice cotton sundress or house dress for around $30-45 and the more glamorous day dresses would run you close to $100...now, I am noticing house dresses going for...
Ok, so recently there was this really sweet 1930's outfit up for bid on a "certain" auction site...(don't know if I am allowed to name names here!) Anyway, I lost out, and of course, was totally okay with that because I always tell myself it has gone to someone else who loved it more...and...
I find it really interesting to hear what others were like growing up! I actually was the exact opposite - Growing up I was always in fashion and never rebeling in any way. Always very up to date with what was happening.
Having grown up this way, I always felt like something was "missing"...I...
Maybe I take mt job as a social worker a little too seriously but...
How do people get so mad about those sort of things?
You know what gets me mad? When people who don't say thanks when you hold the door for them or misplacing my car keys for the 20th time in one morning...
You know...
Oh wow...I couldn't help but laugh when I saw her hair in those curlers! It actually looks identical to what my hair looks like if I use a triple barrel curling iron...
That is true, I didn't think about that. I love it when Ginger wears that braid around her head that looks like a halo, and I always wondered how they did that on such short hair until one time I was looking through an old catalogue and saw braided hair pieces for sale....it was my duh...
FaintlyMacabre:
Thanks so much for your input! I made the wave with a duckbill clip on semi-dry hair and loaded on the hair spray! Then, I removed the clip when my hair was totally dry.
What a great tip! I am definitely going to try it thanks! I also think that my hair would have more body...
Ohhh okay, no I have never tried that one, just the Lee Stafford. I think we may actually have the Batiste brand in Canada - I will have to try it to compare...it was save me having to collect bottles of the other stuff and bringing them back with me to Canada! You know, you get weird looks from...
No, actually I found it online, its by Lee Stafford:

I love it! They sell it at Boots. (Another thing I miss about England)
I've used dry shampoo for years, and my experience is that you don't actually have to brush. When I apply it, I make sure I get the powder rubbed onto my hands and then directly onto my scalp, trying not to touch the rest of my hair. I basically massage the powder directly into my scalp...
If you feel like being patient, buy only a few at a time - I've seen them go really cheap (like $10 for two kind of cheap) because there has only been one or two in an auction. You can slowly build up a collection. That is what I did anyway, but it took me over 6 months to have a complete set...
First "Ginger-do" attempt...
Ok...so....nervous drumroll...I attempted the Ginger hair style...this is the pic of what I was trying to recreate...
So here's what it looks like...sorry for the sketchy bathroom photos at work...LOL it has the best lighting and big mirrors! :o...
I think you look fabulous! I actually think I like you with a fairer complexion, than the second photo where you appear more tanned. I think the fair skin and bolder make-up really suits you!
I totally agree with everyone about how weird it feels when you wear different make-up for the first...
I absolutely love that moment when you pull off the newer fabric from an antique chair to discover the original underneath! I don't know why I find it so exciting, but I really do...lol!
Gorgeous fabric, and chair!
Don't think I have checked out King of Kensington...I've only been to Exile, and Second Chance, both of their stores. Yes, Cabaret is gorgeous, but you are right, the prices can be a little high.
I also checked out Gadabout for the first time...wow is it ever packed with great stuff! But...
Thanks Lauren and Mis Sis,
Hmmm, okay, so I am wondering if the dry cleaner can literally clean "around" the sequins, like just the velvet area....
I may have to stand over them to supervise....lol!
Thanks for the tips, I am definitely going to invest in some slips and dress shields! I like the ones that snap onto your bra, will give it a try and report back :)
Lauren: I am wondering what your advice would be for outfits with sequins...I just won a beautiful velvet evening gown that has...
