OMIGOD THAT'S IT!!!! I am sooooo jealous it is gorgeous! That is exactly what I was talking about, it was such a fine netting that it really didn't look very snood-like, and the one in the film was covered in rhinestones instead of sequins....wow, that is lovely! But, would I use a normal snood...
Has anyone ever seen a snood made out of more of a sheer material, like a veil?
I saw this old movie once and now I REALLY wish I could remember which one, and the woman was in an evening gown, and her snood was actually made out of a veil-like material, black, and was worn like a snood would...
Hmmm...okay...so not a HUGE drive from Toronto...right? RIGHT?
I am slowly becoming more and more desperate it seems...why is there not anything like this in Toronto??? We love vintage here! I need some money so I can open up my own salon! (see, the desperation continues...)
Thanks ladies...I think I need to start trying on more outfits to get a better idea. I never thought of the 30's style as something that would be flattering on me...I always pictured the style suiting more of the tall, slim willowy type. I have a bit of a tummy to cope with...:o
such good info!
Thanks ladies,
Lady Day: omg, your post made me laugh...gotta love those measurements eh? That is like Barbie measurements! Wow! I would have to remove a kidney to get that shape... lol
Get atomized: Yayyy someone from Toronto!!! Excellent! I have been dying to meet...
confused by difference btwn US and UK
Hey girls,
Ok, so I am a little confused: some of you have been talking about specific colours and even talking about their foundation and I cannot find any of that on their website.
However, I went to an online UK shop and all the colours you all...
Ok, so I was wondering if anyone else has this issue with buying vintage dresses: I have been hesitant to purchase anything actually vintage because I notice that all the measurements are usually in the 40's for chest and 20's or 30's for waist.
I am a small chested girl who could do 36' max...
updates on the pro-curler?
Hey guys,
I know this a pretty old thread to be reviving, but I was interested to know how everyone's experiments turned out?
I was thinking of getting one, but I am still confused as to whether this thing actually does pin curls, or just a curly type hair...
Hi ladies,
Just curious to know if anyone on this forum is from Toronto or the area and has any good tips for someone who does vintage hair.
I hear about this all the time in the US (sooooo envious of you guys!) who have vintage salons, but I have never seen anything like that in Canada...
Thanks Skidoo that is so nice of you to say!
I kind of messed up my last post, I included the photos but no descriptions so I now have added the descriptions to my original post.
Basically, they were both lucky finds, and I snatched them up right away! The 30's ring is aquamarine and...
Yayyy it worked!
Thanks Fleur!!!
Ok, so this is funny...I own two vintage engagement rings...but I am not engaged!!! (hahaha is that bad luck, like buying a wedding gown before you're engaged??)
The first ring is from the 30's, and rather than diamonds and gold, it is an aquamarine set in...
hmmm
Ok, so it didn't work...just wondering, under posting rules, it says "I may not post attachments" why am I restricted to do this? Or does that have nothing to do with posting pictures...? I'm confused :(
Ok, so I am not married but....
Hi ladies great thread!
Ok, so this is funny...I own two vintage engagement rings...but I am not engaged!!! (hahaha is that bad luck, like buying a wedding gown before you're engaged??)
Anyway, I couldn't resist, the first one I got as a grad present from...
Hi from Toronto!
Hi everyone!
I am new here, and was so excited to find this lounge! Your expertise has been so helpful for me and I really enjoy seeing everyone's own personal style!
I live in Toronto, Ontario (anyone from the T-Dot here????) and love everything vintage, but my obsession...
Thanks for that! Yes, I have seen those before, the mesh bags with the powder/rouge on top, but this one was so different, I will try to explain with photos. So, I attached two pics, one is sort of what the bag looked like, but it was much, much nicer. It was beads on a cotton/silk or something...
Hi everyone!
First, just wanted to introduce myself, I am new to this forum and was beyond excited when I discovered it!
I have a question for you ladies: last weekend I was at an antique show and happened upon a purse that was unfortunately already sold...:( But anyway, it was a 1940's...
