Er... I don't like it. The pockets, in particular the flaps, don't really match the period of the jacket. There needs to be scalloped flaps and I'm not talking about some dreadful skin disease :eeek:
I was in Japan in 2000 and 2002 and the ELC and Aero stuff was only a bit more expensive than the UK. Buzz was a bit higher and the stuff in the RMCJ store was very expensive(not to be confused with RMCNZ) A three tier market.
The English sourced veg tanned jerky horse on my AL Roadster, is...
Given the prices they are charging there is never going to be the level of detailing and ageing Real McCoy's Japan offer.
What do you suggest they make ? What do you think of this http://www.alexanderleathers.com/sale/motorrad-jacke.html if it was made in dark brown grainy horse ?
Rough pic...
They don't seem to fetch much on ebay

The triangular reinforcing strap over the collar strap looks unusual ?
On the ELC RW it's the other way round as is the original they show.
I had a look through a 13 year old RMCJ catalogue and it's not that arrangement either.
I reckon it's a Drifter not a Detroit. When you've got so many jackets I guess it's easy to loose track

The use of thinner hides offer them the possibility of more intricate detailing. My guess is they know what sells, and that means simple Generic 1950's American styling. In fact, exactly the jacket I ended up choosing and the one that sold out first !
Some of the designs are a bit bland though...
For me it means mismatched panels. During the war for economy reasons A2's used the whole hide. That means heavily marked and wriggled leather, that would normally end up in the bin, being used as well as smooth on the same jacket.
In the modern era many people like stuff that looks less man...
AL are using standardized UK sizing as far as I can tell. If I walked into M+S all of their own brand stuff fits me as per label. I bought a AL 44r Roadster and the fit is spot on. Modern fit means it fits properly, not the ridiculous spectacle of middle age men trying to get into 1940's cuts !
I bought a size 44R Roadster in jerky horse. The one pictured on their website.
The leather is really nice. A strong leather smell that only comes from veg tanned leather. A bit like walking into an expensive furniture shop. The hide is a medium weight full grain English leather. Black finish...
