Veg tanning has always been used for various leather types. Leather for shoe soles for example that require stiffness. All top grade saddles use veg tanning. There's a saddle maker near me who has his own tanning pits. Takes six months to tan.
Eastman jackets made from Italian hides are all veg...
Yes, yes, but we know Kelso are without parallel because er..... they tell us so. Quote from the homepage:
"This tannery exclusively produces the Victory Horse(TM) leathers for Bill Kelso.
Development of the Victory Horsehides took a considerable length of time but waiting was well worth it as...
Around 630,000 tons of horse meat is produced a year. What sort of percentage of the butt shells end up at Horween and Shinki ?

I don't think Blair wore it when he was PM. The footage I saw was earlier when he was party leader. It was definitely his own jacket.
The AL one is an absolute bargain price-wise compared to some. Check this Burberry out !

DDL, 3 x Oscar winner wearing later Hi-vis donkey in ' My Beautiful Laundrette'
I would describe most of the AL designs as being generic rather than replicas of originals.
This is a 1930s style motorcycle jacket made of 'Norwegian' horse
I've seen Tony Blair wearing a Donkey jacket when he visited his constituency office. He obviously thought it gave him working class credentials !
Problem is most of them on the market use ghastly vinyl shoulders and not leather. There's certainly a market amongst students etc. for proper ones...
In men's clothing the AL type collar is usually called a rounded cutaway collar.

Quite common on many pre-WWI casual jackets.
I'm away from home at the moment but I'll see next week if I've got...
How big is the AL workshop compared to Aero's emporium ?
I've got some magazine pics of original Simmons Bilts. I'll post them up next week. The late 20's and 30's ones are normally brown aniline goatskin.
Some of the leather finishes they use are awful. This looks a bit like German oak leaf camo from WWII :eeek:

BobJ starting posting last august about buying an Aero. Have you checked for commies under the bed this morning  ?

John Lever can probably explain the tubular bit as well. He has discussed a redesign with Will Lauder at Aero. For someone like me who has never handled an Aero it's difficult to understand.
Teddy bear fur, easy fix. Here's my ELC B-6. Used to have straight fleece. Cold wool cycle in the...
Here's my original Irvin. A large jacket 25" across the chest with long 27" arms. The arms are narrower than a size 44 Eastman I used to own.
The arms on the Eastman seem to have elephantiasis. What's wrong with the AL pattern arms in the tubular sense ?
