Jon, as I said earlier in this thread, you really make the pinnacle of Irvin reproductions.
I still plan to get one of yours down the line but having just bought a house in Norway and in the process of moving there it'll have to wait a bit for the finances to recover. But the perfect country in...
Off topic and not relevant to the jacket posted in the thread header but that's probably one of the difficulties with blue jackets, there's a police/security connotation with blue/dark blue especially it seems in the States. I can remember one member here (sorry can't remember who) saying that...
Good points Doc.
Without doubt there is a gap in the market for a company offering nylon flight jackets somewhere between Alpha and BR/RM.
In a perfect world I would love to see Weintraub go back to making them after picking up one of their B-15Cs. All they would really need to do was tweak...
Kids have been sick and out of sorts so no mucking around tonight with dins, good old fish finger sandwiches.
^ That Persian stew thing looks beautiful, might have to give that a go.
Certain people will pinch anything, even from a church.
Hopefully it's returned intact and those responsible have the book thrown at them. Although it's probably more likely if they do eventually catch them, that they'll get the equivalent of a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket.
Me too. Remember the little flurry of interest in blue leather around here about a year and a bit ago?
Done the right way and in the right shade I think it can work but I think it's a very fine line with the blues, far less margin of error and it can look bloody awful if you're not careful...
You probably won't see many 3/4 coats in goat as the hides aren't usually big enough.
I still have a 3/4 length coat planned through AL but it had to go on the pack burner as I had some other bills at the time. I got samples of most of their leather offerings and will be going with black CXL...
The olive one, second from the top would look great with a seal jacket IMO.
Possibly even better than a tartan. The Aeronaut design has a lot going on with detail (buttons, collar, pockets, etc) and as others have said a plain lining might be a better bet.
Might just be a tad "busy" with a...
British crime IMHO is streets ahead of the mainstream US offerings. Shows like "Wire in the Blood" and "Waking the Dead" make all the CSI, NCIS stuff look like absolute pap.
Latest we watched was "New Tricks" as the mother-in-law sent us the DVDs for the first two seasons and the better half...
Very old school and far removed from the cricket shoes I used when I was still playing in the 80s and 90s.
It's interesting to see the development in terms of cricket clobber and equipment down the years.
TBH Deacon, you see variations in shade of the outside hide in originals as well. With my ELC if I take a photo of it with flash it brings out the reddish tones, without flash and in normal daylight it's a chocolate brown.
Keith Draper's "Fly Fishing for Beginners". I've had this for years and still come back to it. It's the perfect size as well and fits in my fishing vest.
DK's "Sailing", a small encyclopaedic book about all things yachting. And another one I still drag out if there's something I want...
+3.
I have them on my Barnstormer and was initially dubious but I've grown to like the things. They're perfect at keeping out drafts and with our imminent move to the Arctic in the next couple of months, I think they'll be even more appreciated.
Søren's Aces High is the pinnacle of Irvin repros AFAIC, it's just the bee's knees.
I have an ELC 1940 Pattern (earlier hide) which I love and which has gotten better and better with use (and in truth I've given the thing a hell of a hard time).
An absolute feast from the local curry house tonight.
Onion bhaji, murgh malai, lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, garlic and keema naans, poppadoms, and raita.
So #$%&ing good!
