Met the Ultimate Car Guy Today!!

Jay is a genuinly nice guy. He sat and talked with me and a few friends for quite a while in a Hilton bar when he was on tour. He didn't have a drink but did eat lots of popcorn. We were kind of flabergasted that he spent so much time with us.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

And the 50's are more commonly referred to in geek circles as the Atomic age, then the Silver age in the 60's.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

I have all the Batman from the Golden Age collected, along with the Spirit. I really enjoy reading them but I'd be hard pressed to consider Golden Age Batman a "smart" read. The 50's and 60's is where most the superheroes got dumbed down, with the possible exception of Marvel in the 60's.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

What about the comics Bronze Age? With darker plot elements and more mature story-lines. I for one like my Batman dark and disturbed and not smiling and bouncing off giant drums.:eusa_doh:

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

What about a few Ray Harryhausen films: Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, The Valley of Gwangi (dinosaurs and cowboys-you gotta love that!).

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

I'm determined to find just one thing about the 70's that appeals to James. How about the Egg McMuffin?

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

This threads so long I can't even find that discussion. If only I could follow every thread from beginning to end all day long I might be able to keep up. Unfortunately I have to do things like work and eat and be with my family;) .

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

Back on topic. My favorite TV show from the 70's was M*A*S*H. Never missed it, couldn't tape it. It was a show about the 50's without all the Hot Rods, greasers and do wop. It was definitely a high point for that decade. You can't hate this too can you?

    Gettysburg Veterans 1938! Hats galore!

Those are really amazing photos. It's amazing to think that the generation that fought the Civil War was still around then. It also points out something I've metioned before, not everyone in the 30's had that clean-shaven Hollywood look. A great variety of facial hair there. And sure these...

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

Remember those after school specials? I liked 'em. At least they were trying to pass on a good message to tweens. Where is such an effort on tv now? All those Disney live action sitcoms aimed at that age group are full of smart aleck kids that are "obviously" smarter than all the adults.
