Walter Schirra, the only man to fly all three of NASA's first-generation spaceships, died Thursday from a heart attack in La Jolla, Calif. He was 84.

I saw this....quite sad...although he lived a good pioneering life.

I knew he was one of the Naval test pilots, but had forgotten he'd downed a MIG in combat. Quite the cold warrior.
Disappointing that his character had been mostly edited out of The RightStuff movie.
