    Depression Era Frugality

It still amazes me how people used everything! On my mother's side, my grandparents were farmers, very poor and had 13 kids  Some of the stories I could have gone my whole life not hearing , but still very interesting. Just about every part of a cow they would eat..the brain my grandmother...

    SUFFERING For Your STYLE

I'm pretty new at dressing vintage, just in this last year I've grown a great appreciation for the clothes and everything in my favorite era's 40's and 50's and love my daily quest for learning more. At first, my family gave me the most flack..thought it was amusing or something..now, they love...

    non orangey self tanners

ok, not an attempt at humor. I think pale skin is great also, but for me, I think I look better with a little bit of a tan 'glow'. Plus, even with sunscreen, my arms and chest do get a little tan, then you have super white legs..to me, especially since there's a family reunion in a few days, I...

Cartoon shows that you remember watching as a kid

agreed, everyone has their own parenting techniques and ideas. With me, I had too much thrown at me at one time...too young, raising my kids, I realize the same thing, they have a better understanding of things than we may realize. About the barbie thing: I dont have a problem with...

    sunburns

tourb...I'm the same way, I go right past tanning to sunburn. The downfall of being a redhead! so what is the difference between a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burn? Last year, I got a sunburn and it blistered, probably should have gone in and seen the doc!

    sunburns

lol that's what is so pathetically ironic about this , is that I have 5 bottles of sunscreen in my cabinet :o What happened was, I started weeding, was completely shaded, got really into what I was doing, by the time I realized I have been in full out sun, my back was already scorched :(

    Vintage/Retro Cosmetic brands?

Rebecca, the two hairspray brands that I use are Pantene and Sebastian...mostly Sebastian (it has a great smell, not over-powering and works great!)

    sunburns

Even with all the talk of spf lotions, I went out and got a sunburn...a bad one...it's starting to peel..is this just inevitable, or is there anything you can do for a sunburn? (btw: I have been putting aloe vera gel on it)

    non orangey self tanners

I've also learned to look closely at the cans/bottles! I bought this air brush spray stuff (can't think of who made it though) anyways, just got done spraying myself and decided to take a look at what they put in it....I see a warning lable on it...it said that some of the ingredients in that...

Not Sissy Actors but REAL MEN

(this is just my opinion but..) Gregory Peck is one of the most handsome men in history! the ideal of the tall, dark and handsome. Women (for the most part) want a man in every sense of the word. They want one to look like a man and act like a man. Mud in yer eye...that kind of mentality is...

Cartoon shows that you remember watching as a kid

Being from a small town or a big city, Christian or not, kids need to have good values instilled into them. I DO NOT shelter them to the point where they are oblivious to the realities of the world, that would be horribly unfair to them, nor do I have intention of just throwing them out to the...

    People who talk to themselves

Makes you wonder where her family is! :offtopic: this is a topic that I had recently, I don't know if it's just me, but, it seems our culture is going away from family taking care of family. I have always felt that if something happens to either my mother or my husbands parents, we would take...

What did you used to do for fun?

I wonder since as adults, being as busy as we are, that we now realize how great we had it? There's nothing like going out in the woods for some nature watching, except, my dad had kind of a twisted aspect to it, he'd take his gun and taught me how to shoot it, at birds..I don't remember ever...

    How deep is your style?

That is something I never quite understood as well. I very much appreciate a well dressed person and think it's great that they take the extra effort each morning to 'dress up'. For me, being conceited has been all about personality than having anything to do with outside appearances. I am very...
