    The Vintage Fur Thread

I really don't think it's cruel to say that animals are for our consumption. Even though my diet is mostly vegetarian..I do not feel guilty eating meat once in awhile. I really don't want to come across as an animal hater...I love animals and have more than my share around my house (thanks to...

    Just bought my first iron

Tony, you'll have to tell us how your ironing went! Really, it's quite simple, just one of those chores that are somewhat dreaded. :) Tips: Fill the iron with water, usually there is a steam setting, when the iron is fully heated up, hover the iron over the item of clothing that you wish to...

    My attitude is NOT free!

don't get me wrong, I do compliment great service...the penny idea is just something more to add to the fact that I liked how I was waited on.

Animals are here for our consumption...I do not believe in animal cruelty however. haven't heard about fur coat makers using cats and dogs though...It seems it just wouldn't look the same [huh]

I too am glad you shared the penny with the tip idea. There have been waiters I would of really liked to have known that they did an excellent job.

I love vintage fur coats, but, as far as a new coat, I stick with faux.

PDA - Where is the line?

It seems some people need to take a deep breath since the topic is getting a little too heated than what it deserves to be.

How much did ladies pay for their dresses back then?

MK has some great material I was looking through. There was an old Sears catalog...was great looking at! Dresses were like $5....though didn't people on average make like .25/hour?

    Show us your vintage patterns!

Jitterbugdoll, love them both! Very pretty! I love the entire look of the floral dress, plus, you can wear it a whole lot more than the other, but I do like keeping some elegant dresses around in my closet ;) Jitterbug, do you sew?

Second-thoughts on vintage wearing in public...

I've only been in an Old Navy store a couple of times, and both times was not at all impressed with what they had. The clothing seemed to be more on the sloppy side...Not at all what I would wear for daily attire, but, say, if I was heading to the coast, some of the outfits might work.

Where are you all when I need you!

Scot, now that sounds like fun!

    OK...I confess...

Vintage stores are a great place to find clothing. Also, what I've been doing is finding actresses (which in your case actors) who have the same body style as I do, and look for clothes according to what I see that looks good on them. Good luck! :D

PDA - Where is the line?

Well, hopefully Strider you'll find someone soon to get all lovey dovey with! Some things I see I think I get more upset because what I view as disrespect for the girl. Examples, are grabbing thier breasts in public and butt...I see no reason for this, and find as far as the girl is concerned...

Where are you all when I need you!

For me, it is hanging out with good friends. A lot of times it really doesn't matter where we hang out or do, just being together and having great conversation is great. Usually, it's Mrs.MK and if the hubby's around, the Mr., they're a blast to hang out with. :D I am hoping soon to check out...

    My attitude is NOT free!

But even if it's because the cook is slow that night...a good waiter should still make sure you're happy and give updates on how the food is progressing. I am one who doesn't tip as much at a place like Denny's as I would a nice restraunt. Why? don't know, maybe cause with places like that...

    Do's and Don'ts in Fashion

the purple and brown hats look fun, but, I'm going to have to get a little more braver before wearing those myself! right now, I'm sticking to black and brown colors. The hats make those dresses go from a regular house dress, to 'wow'.

    My attitude is NOT free!

If the service is really lousy, I don't tip. They are there to do a job and to do it well. It does have to get pretty bad before I won't tip anything. But, I will definetely not give them as much as I would have if thier service stinks. There are places around here that automatically add the...

Name The Last Time There Was So Much Naked

topic took a bit of a turn,eh? I know I am still learning on what truly fits great. With just discovering girdles and such, I'm amazed at how much better clothes look, but also, how great I feel in them. Stores these days do not sell tailored clothing like I've been buying at vintage stores...
