Midnight blue accessories are (and were) rare. Black ones are acceptable with midnight blue evening clothes, though the texture (grosgrain vs. silk) should match the lapel facings if possible. -

Scott, I think the quality of stuff at Goodwill varies by location. I never found anything at all that was decent in the DC area. Here in Louisville, I occasionally find decent modern stuff, but haven't yet come across anything vintage that was older than the '60s. -

As for positioning the buttons: In the front, put the first button on each side directly over the main trouser pleat, then the second on each side 4" away from the first, towards the side of the trousers. Getting the button position right helps the pleats stay closed and the trousers drape...- Orgetorix
