When I decide I "need" another hat, you will certainly be the first one to know. I don't want that block to dry out and crack from lack of use! If I could convince my Chief to let me wear a fedora with my uniform, I would definitely need another hat, in navy felt. :D:D
Thanks very much! I'm familiar with the term and the item, just couldn't figure out the correlation between them and location (Seattle). Thanks again for helping me out!
I have a DM Adventurer and the crown is only 4-3/8" tall to the top of the front crease (teardrop), which is all the height I could wring out of this particular hat without a lot of taper at the top. The felt is mid-weight, I would call it, and fairly stiff, but I actually prefer stiffer felt...
Very nice boots there, Richard, glad they cleaned up to be better than you expected. I am curious about the Toppies comment, if you will pardon my ignorance... How does Seattle necessitate Toppies? I'm guessing the prevalent wet weather and the boots originally had leather soles that were slick...
Those are beautiful, and definitely not something we have in our part of the country. One of the things I love about this forum is how the threads can stray off topic and still be so interesting. :) Thanks for posting these!

Don't worry, those little guys commit plenty of wanton murders of their own - far more than necessary for their survival. Anyone who raises poultry or fowl can attest that they are bloodthirsty little critters that will wipe out an entire coop in a night.
I don't think it's as much a discerning eye, as a sense of economy or value, but your point is well stated and well taken. I would not presume to tell someone else how to spend their money as long as no harm is done to others, but I still don't understand some things like the "holey jeans". Like...
Hmmm, I wonder if the seller tried to type in "Superfine" and auto-correct "fixed" it to "Serpentine"? There's a couple of things in that ad that don't quite seem to line up (the box does not appear to be for the hat it contains, for example), so I wonder if this is another?
That's the kind of deal I dream of stumbling into some day. I've thrown away a lot of honestly-worn-out clothes in my life (well, most of them were used for shop rags and such).
