Not to worry, I've seen nothing in your posts that would cause any offense to anyone at all. Good honest questions are what you have posted so far, and you will find that the folks here are glad to help. I've not even been here a year myself, and the senior members here have always been...
Just my opinion here, Sila: The answers you received were pretty complete and were accurate, so as Belfastboy said, there didn't seem to be a whole lot for other posters to add. And your questions are relatively common and have been discussed before here, so not a lot of folks are likely to add...
Yes, the leatherwork is Rick's as well. I explained to him roughly what I wanted, and he produced a band that made it seem that he could read my mind. He has many talents!
Terry, here are some around-the-hat shots. If you need a view I have not included, please do not hesitate to ask. The first head-on shot seems to widen the brim and shorten the crown somewhat. The brim is 3-1/4" wide and the crown 5" to the top of the front crease. The hat is a size 7-3/4, to...
Yes, Rick did a great job! Here are some shots from the Phoenix thread, but I will try to get a back shot and more direct front and side shots later this afternoon:
And one from our recent big ice storm, showing a better front shot:
I will try to get those other shots up later today!
Drugs or not, Rick, you're certainly right! Heavy rain, ice storms, snow - after several dry years I'm glad I ordered this hat when I did, as it has shed all the precipitation we have had lately and laughed ("Is that all you've got? Ha! Piece of cake!"). It goes out the door when I do, unless...
As others have suggested, I wouldn't do a whole lot more to it, personally, except maybe a mid-width ribbon, since it has such a tall crown? I like the color, but I do tend to favor russets and mid-browns.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of that tan Stratton you posted in another thread...
A couple of questions, if y'all will humor me, please:
The Winchester Blue Smoke pictures, on my computer, look an awful lot like Akubra's Moonstone color. Can anyone with both felts confirm that or differentiate between the two?
With the interest in "lot" purchases, I assume it has to be all...
I really like that color, and I think the proportions suit you well - it looks like it belongs on your head. Very nice hat and a nice gesture, for certain.
Still very fair prices for the quality of work received, in my opinion. I can't imagine anyone not being pleased with a hat they order from Rick.
EDIT: I quoted Rick's price sheet but it didn't show up in the reply for some reason, just in case my random statement confused anyone. Sorry about...
And in many places in the Appalachians, you will hear words and pronunciations still in use that were part of the proper "Queen's English" several hundred years ago. For example, "Ye" and "Yonder" are still spoken frequently where I live, even among the younger generations. Contrary to the...
Thanks, gentlemen, I appreciate the kind words. Rick created the original, all I did was ask for a copy in my preferred size. So all the credit is Rick's.
Rick's price sheet is on the third post, first page of this thread. I am not sure if the prices posted there are current, as Brent mentioned some time back there would be a cost increase coming soon. Even if the prices did go up some, you can see they are VERY reasonable. I chose to have this...
Thank you, friend, I appreciate that. But all the credit goes to Rick, as I shamelessly asked him to copy this hat for me from one he posted back in August. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person!
