I've done EMS standbys at some of those medieval fairs - I seriously doubt you would be the only Gandalf present! But I bet your hat brim would be bigger than the rest of them. ;)
Hooray! I know you've been waiting on this one too, glad it finally arrived and that you are pleased with it. I hope you get many happy years of wear out of it!
Yes indeed. To each his own, and I admit I'm a tightwad, but $350-500 for a Japanese-made pair of blue jeans for daily wear? Nothing special, they just look like... blue jeans. Just like my $20-on-sale Wranglers do. It's things like this that make me feel fortunate to have such low taste. ;)
That’s just absurd. It is one thing to spend extra money for quality materials and workmanship, but paying big bucks for ratty, worn-out looking clothing makes no sense to me at all. I guess if you’re never going to do any strenuous activity to put honest wear on your clothes, you pay extra to...
These two gentlemen look like they could be pretty hard cases if they needed to be. At the time and place they served, I would expect that they did need to be occasionally.
Thank you! The color is indeed more true on the head shots; the photos on the rhododendron have the felt looking lighter and more uniform than it is. I really love the subtle, warm, heathered brown/gray color of this felt. In person it looks more like the studio shots Rick made.
Thanks, everyone. It did turn out great, but I did nothing except recognize that, "Hey, that hat looks great" and order one just like it! Rick deserves all the credit.
Belfastboy, YES! That's exactly what I'm doing, keeping my head warm. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen.
This hat just arrived, courtesy of Rick's elves. They definitely hadn't been drinking when they finished this beauty up!
This is a natural color beaver body with navy ribbon. It is a shameless copy of one Rick made a few months back, except for the size. It is a 7-3/4 hat with a 3"...
I just received a new hat from Rick Walker at Phoenix Custom Hats. This is my second order from Rick, and I have been extremely pleased with both hats! This one is a natural beaver felt with navy ribbon. I think it will be a great casual hat to wear with a jean jacket or blue jeans and button-up...
Yes, I take the liners out of my hats. I do not care for the extra heat and bulk they add (but I am beginning to bald so I may rethink that in the winter time!). With that said: The couple of custom hats I've had built were requested to have the liner installed loose, so I could put it in later...
That's pretty funny! At least it will get some use one day a year. It might be time to break out the brown hair dye!
Also, it probably doesn't matter to you, but I made a mistake when I was giving you the dimensions of my Phoenix hat. The brim is 3-1/4" wide, not 3". I knew that but must have...
Townes was a fantastic song writer, indeed. He reminds me somewhat of Kris Kristofferson in that I think he is a better writer than a singer, but he still sings better than I can! ;)
One of my favorites of his is "Pancho and Lefty", especially as done by Emmylou Harris. I saw a video clip one...
