The pattern is ok... not stellar and needed some fiddling with, but it might have just been me. I noticed the collar hangs kind of funny as there's no overlap, but again, not sure if I just did it wrong because I was unwilling to split the envelope to look at the instructions which are printed...

Eh, just air it out and wear good antiperspirant. That's what a lot of ladies then did. lol

Fleur, that is fabulous! Just a note of precaution from one who made the mistake personally... don't get things with sequins dry cleaned. They melt! I ruined a great jacket that way :(

    Custom made vintage repros...

Her stuff is cute! Pretty cool that she has her specific styles then does custom work from them. Very old style couturier.

Can you help me date this item??

I agree with Miss 1929 on the black dress. It's probably 50s, not 30s. The 50s mimicked the 30s in a lot of ways so I'll often see 50's stuff mislisted as 30s, and vice versa. I have seen 50s clothing with the Beaumont label as well. Good ways to check are hem lengths, although they could be...

    THE Dress - Butterick 4790

Nope, traditionally in fashion you just have to make three style changes and you're fine with copyright issues. Can be as simple as changing zipper placement, raising or lowering hems, etc. That's why we see so many designer knock offs ;)

Yes, that's it! I saw it for the first time on TCM a while back and fell in love with it!

    Feeling Good vs. Looking Good

I admit I'm lazy for every day, but when I put the effort into dressing I feel prettier and act more ladylike. Some days are good for dressing slummy just to relax, but too many days in a row make me feel lousy, too! Nothing like a new frock or dolling up to make a gal feel better ;)

ladies:GREAT 1942 film for clothes, hairdos, hats

I love especially one of the dresses Rita wears when dancing with Fred Astaire in the garden, I think. Long evening gown with illusion netting, if I remember correctly. Irene made lovely clothes.

Inky, that skirt is so cute! It looks like a great wardrobe basic. I need to make more skirts like that! Very cute! Rachel, your jacket is lovely. I have noticed you're an excellent top stitcher! Lovely construction and it looks so well made!

Finished a couple of projects I had laying around for a while. Yay! From this pattern And I don't have a pic of this pattern, but it's an early 30s one. I've had it sitting around for four years! It's about time I finished it!

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I love piping. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but it's great stuff. If it's out of the package, or if you make your own, it should be on the bias. To go around curves make sure the cord on the inside has plenty of "ease. Don't pull the cord tight. I also sew it on one thickness of...

Thanks, gals! Yes, they are two piece sleeves. Thanks for noticing! Cool! I didn't really take any pics of the inside, even though I thought I did :eusa_doh: but I did help a friend make a similar jacket at around the same time and took a picture of the inside of hers. This is pretty much...

Thanks so much, gals, for the comments on the shirt! I really, to be honest, wanted to scrap it so many times since the fabric was really wiggly, but I'm glad I stuck with it! Thank you so much, you make me feel it was worth the effort! I just finished a looooong project, thank goodness! I'm so...
