Ahh, I was wondering if that were the case! Have you given any thought to a horse hair band on the sand hat? Something similar to this one?
Just a thought.
I've never fiddled with bands, but I believe if I were to, I'd let gravity do it's thing just in case I want change it out or to sell...
A very valid and real point.
I'm [sporadically] writing a collection of modern detective stories revolving around a single character, and one of the things he grapples with is his loss of individuality due to said chosen profession.

I once hit a "just a hair too big" hat's sweatband [Akubra Fed Deluxe] with a very quick jot of steam and it made the hat fit perfectly to this day.
Something I'd never do again, though. [bad]
Randy
Looks good! I'd never guess that you were a beginner at this!:eusa_clap I really like the color on the hat, a sand Akubra is on my short list of hat wants.
Will look forward to the inevitable on head shot!
Just one parting observation, isn't the band a tad loose in that second photo?
Randy
Closing in on a year later, what's your impression of the hat? Was it initially stiff? I'm tempted to buy one if I catch them on sale and recrease it.
Randy
I tried his site again a few days ago, I knew the previous time I went to his URL it didn't work, so I figured that they had ceased to exist. I believe the original plan was to be online only after the physical locations closed. It's a shame, I had intended to buy a hat from them someday to...
You're welcome. Like I said, both are great hats on you. Well, the Angler's band could be less shiny in person, flash has a way of exaggerating things. I'd almost be concerned about damaging the barramundi band, but would be interested in seeing an after photo if you did work on it.
Nice...
I can't say that the Jaxon is particularly a bad choice, but I think the Christy's would be a better one since it's fur felt. Though, I have read several positive reviews of the Jaxon C Crown.
BUT the ultimate choice would be what does your friend feel comfortable paying? If this is an...
I'd rather take my chances with a trench or overcoat... it's even cozier. ;)
I can understand carrying one if you're needing to keep something like a pack dry.
Randy
Hey, I still think the porkpie is a ridiculous looking hat. ;) Topped only by something of this nature or the "Jughead Jones/Goober Pyle" hat... or those flat billed too large fitted caps.
Randy
P.S Having said something derogatory against the porkpie, I must add that I've seen examples on...
Nope, I'm not English or sophisticated American gentlemanly enough for pulling off the proper carrying of a brolly. lol
Randy
P.S are there any sophisticated American gentlemen anymore? :p Oh wait, it only takes a look around here to find MANY examples. ;) :eusa_clap
That's the way I was with the silverbelly Campdraft. The color didn't suit me as there was too much yellow in it, and I didn't go a good shaping job [center dent instead of a diamond or teardrop] so the crown looked incredibly high on me. I'm currently thinking of giving a vintage silverbelly...
Know What You Mean
It's amazing how much thought we're sometimes required to put into a hat purchase.
I agree that it seems more likely that a Squatter will taper quicker. Especially having owned one, and comparing it to photos of the Bushman.
Thanks, I'm really enjoying the Whippet. It...
Did they have the "olive" colored Gun Club? If so, what was the color like? I ask because I just know it's bound to be much different than the stock photos online and in catalog.
Randy
I thought I read your review of the Globester and that it had a cloth sweat.[:eusa_doh: one of those types of product finish decisions on the part of Stetson] HATCO never got back with the crown specs on this hat in the modern Stetson thread... it's a bit short and or tapered then?
Do you own...
