Surely this is sarcasm? First responders working highway crashes caused by texting or inattention are then often struck by other drivers who don't see the accident scene because they are "attending to business" on their phone. A recent local multi-fatality crash was caused by a semi-driver who...
That's catchy, Bowen. I bet somebody like Matraca Berg could make a song out of it, ..."One is one too many, one more is never enough..." Yep, mention tequila in there somewhere and it's sure to be a hit! ;):D Intended in the spirit of good fun, not criticism.
Take care, friend!

That is a sharp hat! I always take the liners out of my hats anyway, and the Akubra liners are lightly hot glued in, and so can be removed without damaging the hat if you take your time. You can always tuck the liner back in for cold weather.
Enjoy your Campdraft!
That's a fair question, Dotneck, and I hope no one took this discussion to mean that new members shouldn't participate. That's the last thing I would want to imply.
If you're interested in a topic, first do some searches and read all the old threads. As Milandro says, there's a lot of...
Your concerns are the reason we try not to "ressurect" dead posts, especially ones that have beaten to death in the years since. Sorry your question got derailed.
Yep, it's pretty confusing when people decide to dig up old posts/threads and reply to them; in this case Milandro's reply was to a post that was 12 years old...
Before battery flashlights, with lamp oil being a luxury, folks who were visiting others after dark would borrow a few corn husks (“shucks”) and burn them for light like a torch on the way home. As you can imagine, these didn’t burn real long, so some haste is implied in the expression because...
I told someone the other day I was going to “light a shuck” for home, then had to explain what I meant. I thought that was still a common expression, but maybe it’s not anymore except in the southern Appalachians.
I see a lot of photos of square-toed “cowboy “ and farmer(?) boots from the late 1800s and always liked the way they looked, but they look a lot different (better, to my mind) than the current style that is as flat and wide as a coal scoop. I don’t care for those at all. I expect the old style...
Agreed. The original Marlins are my favorite lever action, in running with the '74 Sharps for my favorite rifle overall. It's a shame they don't make 'em like they used to, but they surely don't.
Thank you, sir, the hats you and Bill Hughes own with this color combination inspired me to ask Michael to do one for me, too (although I went with a matching rather than contrasting brim ribbon). It just took him a while to find a body that would work for my size.
Thanks to you and Bill for...
About a year and a half ago, or so, Michael and I started talking about a natural felt hat that would be to my preferred size - 7-3/4, 3" brim, 5" crown as creased. Michael kept me in mind all this time, and found an XL mid-weight beaver body that Winchester has begun offering for big-headed...
After a LONG wait to find a big enough body for the hat I wanted, Michael Gannon created this one for me. It's a beaver mid-weight, natural felt with matching brim binding and a vintage "slate" ribbon. I am exceptionally pleased with this hat. More in the MC Gannon thread for those who are...
