I spoke with JW today and ordered more sweats. I guess I misremembered - he likes to sell at least a dozen at a time. Still, that's 11 dozen less than most manufacturers require for sweats this good.
Nice hat. I have a couple that I'm hoping to make one good one of. They had a trout fly as the feather when new. Mine are shorter brims, sadly, but the heather finish seems to be characteristic.
Thanks for the post, and the comments fellas. I've finally got Justin's hat on the flange, and know he's dying to get it. That and another I'm working on, and I'll be ready for more work.
Well, I think it depends on the felting process. All of the 100% beaver cowboy hats I've seen, including the Stetson 100 I'm working on now, have been very tightly felted, and pretty stiff. The stiffness is mostly due to lacquer, but the tight felting appears to be how they were made. I am...
I own 2 100% beaver cowboy hats, circa early 1950's. I think you might be disappointed. The felt is very compact & durable, but not really very pleasant to touch, and stiff. Kind of cardboard-like. Hopefully that will change with some alcohol to cut the lacquer. The 100% beaver dress hat I...

Glad the nutria colors issue resolved without a photo from me. I got busy, and lighting is bad here now. Mine is a dark brown NQ, by the way.
As for the boxes, interior design artists are buying them up for decor, I imagine.
So I cut the bottom out of the oil pan, taped it to the wok with metal tape and then drilled holes, wired them together, covered the ends with wire caps, and taped all that up. I covered the outside of the body with the metal tape to better insulate it, then I finished the bag - whew.
The part...
Thanks A&A! I'm glad they are working for you. I've spent all weekend working on my flange bag, and it's coming together. Couldn't get my sewing machines working, so I sewed the bag by hand with a stitch awl. I'll post pics in a bit. It seems to be working - it heats up the sandbag pretty...
