Fedoracentric- women's hats are sold and ordered as a generic item (too many styles and colors embellishment's etc.... They advertise hat will fit 22" to 23" because of the band installed inside the hat that is flexible, they do not necessarily install a leather sweat unless it is called for! Then the hat becomes a custom order! I install a grosgrain ribbon it has some stretch for different hairstyles, plus most women's hats have more wool content than a man's hat! ( they have far more flexibility to colors and patterns than men do) Women don't usually wear their hat in the rain, they get caught in snow but they wear a less grade hat in those condition's. Check out Louise Green, Katarina Hats, etc you will see the sizes available hope this helped

Update on Women's hat size!

I finally found out the answer to the size mystery. The Bay seller said she found the hat in a closet of an older lady (85) who had the hat . Since the ticket said Manny Gammage made the hat in 1997 and the hat had the woman's name on it, she assumed that was HER hat.

Well, come to find out......the woman's husband, whose NAME was on the sales ticket, had TWO custom hats made (one for him and one for HER) and HIS ticket was in HER box. I too would have assumed it was the ticket that matched the hat. But it wasn't.

So, I'm left with a small sized hat, fit for a woman. Oh, well!

I'm sure one of my female friends will really like this as a present.

Does anyone here own a Stekowski fedora? My dad's asking what I would like for my birthday, and I figure a new hat would suffice.

Thing is, I don't want to give him an expensive hat suggestion and I'd like to upgrade from wool to fur felt. I brought up the idea of a hat to my dad, but he put a cap (no pun intended) no more than $80, so an Akubra is out of the question.

So my question is how good are those hats? The quality and such. Can it handle the weather and all that jazz.

I`m trying to download a photo. I`ll try here. I haven't posted recently as I don't like the fact that I have to post on an outside photo site, then post a link (unlike say StyleForm, where its so easy).

Ok, so here goes...I press the INSERT IMAGE and lets see what comes up...

Well, nothing. If I select FROM COMPUTER, nothing happens as the button select Files does not work.

Second, lets try the basic uploader

I selected the file, but there is no button for the next step.....

HELP!!!!

Using the Basic Uploader, after you've selected the file, look underneath the "Choose File" button and click the text that says "Upload File(s)." It's deceptively not a button, and almost counterintuitive. That's how it works for me.

I recently acquired a hat that is in almost mint shape but for one issue I discovered. The leather on the sweatband is beginning to turn brittle. It must have been stored away in a hot area. Anyway, besides Pecard's or Obenauf's, is there any other way to prevent the issue from getting worse? And will Pecard's/Obenaufs even help? Thanks for any of your thoughts on this.

Like Fedoracentric,I've found that once the leather is brittle there is little one can do except replace it.
