Blackhorse - Art's art arrived yesterday and couldn't be nicer. I'm already planning a summer hat with the warm (50 deg.) weather we are having...
We wound up keeping things more or less the same with a slightly lower crown. I posted photos is a separate thread, but here's the side view...
MK - Great news about the Headwear Association dinner. Sounds like folks are really taking notice of The Fedora Lounge and Classic Style magazine. :eusa_clap
Very nice! I've been looking at some of the thin ribbons out there but have yet to take the leap. I have only one that was used primarily while guiding upland game hunts - a Borsalino Lido.
This thread is quite encouraging. It seems that many of you have found interesting jobs or professions that you truly enjoy. When Sarah's contract is up and she finds a new job stateside, we may move again. If so, I will have the opportunity to re-think my current profession.
So Mr. Rover - you are the one. :rage: Just kidding of course. If it's the hat I'm thinking of I was watching it as I am basically a 7 long oval. There have been a few nice boaters for sale recently. I have been hesitant to buy one without trying it on as I don't currently own one and was...
Thank you all for the compliments, I hope my note to Art expressed how happy I am with this hat. The sytle, quality and colours are better than any others I have found to date. The pictures are ok but the felt is really gorgeous and richer than it appears in the photos.
I was originally...
Very nice looking hat. I could use it as a bathtub! Being a preservationist I always cringe at the thought of altering something so unusual. If you don't intend to find it a new home, I would put it on display somewhere as a conversation piece. Then again, I am thinking of decorating my...
I can't say I entirely miss dating but, I did meet some wonderful women, make some good friends and had nights out I would not otherwise have enjoyed. If I were single I might like to go back to a more traditional courtship and dating.
With Sarah away I have had what she describes as "dates"...
My first self portraits and an attempt not to stare at the screen on the camera. It was less than four weeks from deposit to shipping for his amazing work. I don't want to take it off my head.
I just opened the box and gently placed Art's perfectly fitted art on my head without touching a thing. Words escape me at the moment so I will let these photographs tell the story.
Great hat! You've inspired me. I think I have seen two in my searches but none yet in my size. If there's a size 7 out there it would be perfect for client visits...
Love the suit and fabric. If only there were a few around for the short thin guy... There don't seem to have been that many at any time. I have several favourite searches set up and, so far, they return mostly newly made and not terribly attractive suits.
For my 1911s I like the Galco Original Jackass shoulder rigs, but anything on my small frame looks huge under my suits. I wind up wearing my little S&W titanium .38 inside the waistband or my Seecamp .32 in a little push up Galco holster. It hides just below my waistband.
Perhaps influenced by the popular Alpine hats? A more urban Tyrolean? Pure speculation by the way, I still have quite a lot to learn about hats despite my interest and growing collection.
Two shops I have visited. First is John Helmer in Portland, OR has a large selection of hats and quite a nice shop, the shop is on Broadway but I don't have the exact address. They will also clean and block your hats. The second is David Wood Clothiers in Portland, ME at 75 Market Street...
