Hey Diego,
That's a killer looking jacket! :eusa_clap
I think it's the first Oil Pull I've seen on the forum.
I especially love how the dull and shiny areas are intermixed.
It just looks so comfy.
And I agree with what several others have said, leave it alone and wear the heck out of it...
Then it's goat.
I could've sworn the original tag said Lambskin.
Or maybe I just assumed it was Lambskin because it didn't look like cowhide and I knew nothing about goatskin back then.
Cool, thanks all.
Lenny
I'm starting to think that my Andrew Marc jacket is Goatskin for 2 reasons:
1. it shows almost no wear after 10 yrs or so
2. it's very heavy, yet supple
Lenny
I've got an old (maybe 10 yrs) Mall Lambskin jacket that has served me well and still looks great. It's super supple, heavy and made by Andrew Mark. For the price (I think it was like $150 or so) it was a great bargain. Anyway, since joining this forum, I've had the chance to look at some nice...
Good choice with the Long Half Belt.
And good Photoshop skills.
You really got me thinking with the straightened out, more triangular pocket flap though. I kinda like it on that jacket.
But you're getting a totally unmodified LHB, with the breast pocket, right.
That's a beautiful jacket...
Yeah, I hear you, and I've read most of the threads about Good Wear. And I do have nice gloves.
But I'd also like to have the option of not wearing gloves. (BTW, why isn't there more discussion on gloves)
Like I said, I'm not looking for the most authentic jacket in the world. I just want it...
I guess I'm also falling for the classic A2 jacket.
There's a lot to wade thru out there with respect to which one is more authentic, materials, patterns, etc.
But I'm not so much concerned with which one is most authentic as I am with which one will fit me, look good, and provide the best...
Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but is the present day Aero in Scotland the same Aero that made the WWII jackets under contract to the US Gvt?
Thanks
Lenny
Don't know about the Shoe Goo, but that's a killer jacket! :eusa_clap
I'd recommend a coating of Pecard's or something similar with a hair dryer on low to speed up the soaking in.
Great find.
Lenny
I think the general cosensus here is that Horse Hide is the winner when it comes to water resistance.
As for favorite brands, Eastman, Aero, and Goodwear seem to get the most mention and praise for quality.
Be advised, though, that there are many differences between different contract versions...
Just trying to get a handle on the major differences and similarities between the 2.
I know goatskin is much more grained with horsehide being a lot smoother. I've also read that goatskin breaks in quicker, and doesn't show as much wear and patina as horsehide down the road.
Finally, I...
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
I've been using http://www.obenaufs.com/lp.php?osCsid=ca78764935d2b059aa7dfceba55f2614 Obenauf's for years on all my leather stuff (shoes, jackets, bags) and it works nicely. No petroleum products in it either. Warm up the leather slightly with a hair...
Hey Laz,
If I may bother you one more time.
What's the back measurement (from where the collar begins to the waist hem)?
Thanks again pal.
Lenny
PS: I still don't see any pictures. Oh, you're probably too busy wearing the darn thing:)
Peacoat,
With all due respect, it seems like you're the only one saying that the Highwayman is a tightly fitted jacket.
Did you just get a badly made one or are you built like a baboon? :p
