Stoney... just amazing work! I have one question, though. When you pull down the crown, what happens to the holes from where the sweat was stitched before, which I assume are now on the brim? Are they small enough that they just close up?

Thanks all.
I got the sweat treated, and did a minor stretch, but it's still a tight fit on me. I fear that, if I got further with the hat jack, I will be risking tapering the felt. I've been thinking about building a whole-hat stretcher, so this hat may be on hold for a few days while I...
Great thread! I hesitate to say much, because I'm a piker at this stuff compared to J.T. and others. That said, the ribbons have to go, so you can stitch through the felt.
The hardest part of this, it seems to me, is stitching the ends of the new sweat together. Looks like it requires a...
I spotted this buy-it-now last week and pulled the trigger, despite not having seen a photo. A vintage hat in my size (7 5/8 long oval) is worth at least that much, unless it's completely trashed, I figured.
It showed up today, and it's a beauty. As you can see, it's an OR clone, with a...
Great to have you here, Fred!
I've visited the store in San Diego, and found it quite nice. I also like your site, which is attractive and easy to navigate.
I've flirted seriously with buying a Jaxon from you guys online, but have run into the 7 1/2 barrier on the Monk and Bogart models...
I was wearing this beat up old Royal Stetson around the house today (it was chilly, and I got no hair).
This was restored for me by Hatman Jack's, in Wichita. They did a solid job with it... cleaning, new sweat, and new ribbon. I hated their bash when I got it back, so this is my own. The...
I was considering the Manhattan just because I need a light gray hat. It seems to be about the only light gray available at Miller. I need to give them a call.

Got not one but two hat packages in the mail today!
The first is a Resistol Western in 7 5/8 long oval, which I bought as a possible conversion project. I actually kinda like it the way it is, but I may convert is eventually. It needs a bath.
And, even better (way better!), is my...
For what it's worth, I asked the Hat Shaper folks about buying one to help me reshape vintage hats, and this is the reply I got back:
We love selling our Hat Shapers but our past experience tells us that re-shaping vintage hats is not one of the things they are well suited for. Our shapes...
Thanks! It's actually in rough shape. You can't see them too well in the photos, but there are moth problems galore. I just hate to risk having it damaged more, so it's usually stored safely.
Someday, I'll find one as nice as yours in my size!

Yay! I'm a big fan of the folks at Miller. I like the look of several of these offerings.
PS- which Guerra do you own? I like the Salento and the Domanico.
