Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Sorry about that! Well... kinda sorry... ;) I'll keep you in mind if it doesn't work out for me. My high bid wasn't much higher than I paid, so I was a little surprised to win. I've been looking for a nice porkpie for a long, long time. I'm hoping this one, while it will require a little...

    Question for you woodworkers

Okay... I've seen people talk about turning their blocks on a lathe before, too. How do you do that? No block is perfectly round, is it? So, you have to cut the turned, round block in half and glue in another piece to make it an oval, right? Am I missing something obvious here? Anj

Two, Two, TWO Pigs in a Poke for the Price of One!

Just recovered a bit and took a better look at the dark one. Of course, the sweat wasn't sewn in with the seam in the front originally... the hat has been switched to deal with a worn spot that was in the front. It took some work... they had to remove and re-attach the little bow inside...

Two, Two, TWO Pigs in a Poke for the Price of One!

Wow Well, they saw me coming on this one. Hats arrived today, both clearly 7 1/8 size, rather than the 7 5/8 they were listed at. I have a message into the seller, asking for a return and refund, but I'm not optimistic. She insisted on a money order, and she doesn't seem to mind negative...

    Hat Stretching-To Extremes

Since you asked... I was going to wait until this hat was all done to post pictures, but I'll share my extreme stretching story now, and I'll come back with an update later. I paid way too much for a vintage OR awhile back. It was from the '50s, I think... a 3X model that had once been...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Know Premiere Westlite After our Easter brunch, we went to a park with the kids, and my wife snapped this shot of me in my stretched and re-bashed Knox Westlite. It's one of my favorites. Anj

    Source for Thin Grosgrain?

I found this lamp shop while searching for grosgrain ribbon with some cotton content. I want some 3/8" ribbon to use on an Open Road rehab I'm working on. Hatsupply doesn't seem to have anything that thin. Does this ribbon look acceptable? The color choices are pretty impressive...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks, sir! The Campdraft felt is a little thicker than I'd like, but with a little dunk, I was able to get a shape into it that I really like. Best, Anj

    Happy Drunk/Mean Drunk

I'm a very happy and funny drunk. Actually, I'm pretty good at not getting drunk, but at maintaining a good buzz over a long night out. It's my goal in life... living like Nick Charles, with the next martini always at hand. If I could just figure out a way to trade my job for the...

Share your own art here :)

Wow! Just discovered this thread recently, and it's been really inspiring to browse through. I make my living as a comic book artist (and writer, sometimes). I inked this page recently, and since Superman is pretty retro (especially the way my penciller, Phil Hester and I draw him), I...
