Shirts in "Man Who Wasn't There"?
Hello all,
Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find a semi-casual button-down shirt, like the ones Billy Bob Thornton was wearing in "The Man Who Wasn't There"?
I don't know what that style is called... any help appreciated!
Clowns... I don't like 'em. Just like Indiana Jones didn't like snakes, I don't like clowns.
"Clowns - why'd it have to be clowns?"
There used to be a "professional" clown-for-hire in the town I lived in as a kid in NY. It was a bit surreal seeing a clown driving around in the middle of...
Great pictures. It is interesting to see things in colour, somehow it makes it easier to relate.
I noticed that there were also quite a few hatless fellas there as well, especially in the train wreck pic.
Nah... it is some nondescript brand - like a Mr. Happy Shopper cooker version. It isn't ours - we're renting.
The only reason I use matches it that the automatic starter doesn't work and I can't be arsed to have the rental agency arrange for it to be fixed!
Anyhow - I like using...
Cool... I don't smoke but I use matches to light our creaky old gas cooker. Every time I want to make a cuppa joe I use matches as well.
I'd love to find matches that can be lit w/o that abrasive strip, like in the old films...
My dad picked up a blue (?) leather greatcoat when he visited London in '72. It weighs a ton and if it were black it'd look the part. Sadly it is blue and not so menacing as black. If I can dig it up I would consider dying it, as it is really well made.
My father-in-law had a cool...
The fact that we can debate certain "taboo" issues here in itself is fantastic. It proves that some people still exhibit self-control and are able to engage with others in a mature matter. Those are the people I like to hang around with! ;)
The Fedora Lounge is head and shoulders above...
I think you hit the nail on the head Mysterygal...
Many people hide behind their computers and feel that they are free to act like they never would in real life. Cowardice, immaturity, ignorance - they all contribute to this type of behaviour, but I think cowardice is the main ingredient...
As a rule I try to avoid discussing anyone's religion or political orientation - including my own - as more often than not people misundertand any comments I may make or they feel the need to beat their chest and show that their beliefs are correct.
In spite of the "political correctness"...
Hiya,
I am interested in attending Duxford 2006 as well.
How many different types of planes are there? Just Spits and Mustangs, or does the odd Messerschmidt appear as well?
Also - if you don't have the Gold pass, then you can't get close to the planes?
I don't have a black hat as of yet... I am considering it though! I have a dark blue (navy) one, and it doesn't look too bad.
I am considering picking up a black homburg, rather than a fedora. MK brought a really nice black homburg to the London FL event and it was something else.
That...
Trench coat/Overcoat advice
Hello all,
I know that this subject has been touched upon in the past, but I'm hoping our knowledgeable members can give me a more definitive answer…
How do modern overcoats/trench coats differ from those from the 30s/40s? I'm in the market for a trench...
The Dunhill shop on Jermyn Street in London has a really interesting historical collection of cigarette cases, lighters and other products - including examples from the '20s to the '50s.
They've also got a neat online "museum" as well.
