    George Hurrell 40s style photography

Hi guys. Thanks for the comments. Yes all of my photographs were shot with a 10 mega pixel Canon Rebel XTI digital SLR with the 50mm f 1.8 lens. I'm glad they are coming off as actual vintage images. That was what I was hoping for. Doug

    Unpopular movie opinions...

    Unpopular movie opinions...

As a huge fan of film noir, I find Sunset Blvd to be completely unwatchable. In fact I'll go so far as to say that its not even film noir! I don't find the films of Quentin Tarantino to be brilliant. They are for the most part a watch it once and forget about it type of stuff. I don't get...

    The Retronym Game

Interestingly in communities that have removed plastic shopping bags (or any bags for that matter) from stores, people simply buy more plastic bags, and they end up in landfills anyway. Doug

WEIRD stuff from the golden era

And today some parents are not vaccinating their children against a number of very serious diseases because of an unfounded fear of autism, of which there is zero evidence! Now we are seeing a spike in cases of measles. 91% of which were attributed to un-vaccinated children. Just insane! Doug

WEIRD stuff from the golden era

No my intent wasn't to make light of the effect of radiation. The long term casualties of radiation and fall out were much higher than those that were killed instantly. However from the point of view of the civil defense authorities, people could be trained to avoid the effects of radiation...

American City of the Future in 1950 (Popular Science Monthly 1925)

Interesting. It reminds me a lot of Walt Disney's original idea for Epcot, before it was turned into just another theme park. Dou

WEIRD stuff from the golden era

The "duck and cover" drills were developed because the Army discovered that more people were killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, by flying debris than from heat or radiation. In addition, there were several cases where someone standing behind a wooden fence survived unscathed, where someone 20...
