Vintage Lingerie basics?
I have a lot of vintage clothing, but lack vintage lingerie. What are good some vintage lingerie basics? The majority my everyday wear of my clothing is from the 1930's and some from the 1940's. I have a lot of 1920's that I wear less frequently.
The only thing I am...
Vintage Bathing Suits?
I am going to Palm Springs this April and wanted to get a vintage bathing suit. I am allergic to wool :(, so I think my favorite decade, the 1930 is out. What decade would you recommend for me? Is there anything about vintage bathing suits I should know? Any good website...
Great pics, Miss Sis, I hope you got to eat some of that food!
All that I know about the 1930's is that the cut of the dresses is absolutely to die for, I have never had a dress that I did not have to alter. 1920's stuff fits me fine, but I don't think I have the exact body type for it, since I...
I would also love to be considered, I started collecting vintage about 2 years ago and one day plan to some how historically document and use my garments for historical purposes for others to see.
Sounds like you got that weighted silk, its so sad to see beautiful dresses like that that are literally falling apart. I wish I could go back in time and knock some sense into the fabric makers. I have found the best sorce for 1920's day dresses is Ebay.
I would dry clean it, but take it someone who really knows what they are doing. There are certain dry cleaners who specielize in vintage clothing, like mine. Also maybe try taking it to a dry cleaner who does not use as many chemicals, I think there are ones who more environmentally friendly...
I had a 1920's dress like this, it was a dress that was probably orginally made for someone who was about 12-13, what I did was have a seamstress take off the sleeves, so it became a sleeveless dress. If it is a raglan type sleeve, you can probably do this easily.
Your wedding dress sounds so cute! Is the 1920's dress that you which is delicate silk? I find that alot silk chiffon from that era to be extreamly delicate, some to the point where it is literally disintergrating, I think this is because they used to weight the silk to save money. I have some...
I got this beautiful 1920's dress which I believe to be a young ladies ( or very petite woman's) dress. I bought it on Ebay, where I read the measurements as 32 bust, which totally works, except for the fact that while my bust is a 32, but the dress is cut for someone who is a A or B cup, and I...
The 1940's is so popular...I suppose it is much more plentiful then 1920's or 1930's, but the cut on 1940's clothing for me is all wrong and I am always having to get them altered in someway. 1920's is what I started out collecting, and it is what I have most of, yet my real decade is 1930's...
I don't have any hat boxes, but I do have a Antique Louis Vuitton Traincase, do you think I could store them in here?
Also, which are better to protect the hats, new hat boxes or vintage ones?
Lately I have been aquireing a lot of hats....way to many hats...its sort of like they are breeding in my closet at night...Anyway, what do you gals with a lot of hats do? How do you store them? Right now they are all just sitting on the top shelf of my closet, does anyone use hat boxes?
