    I have to third that. Jcrew is a really good place for basics, tanks, polos, etc. Banana Republic is nice, but it also runs a bit big. A modern brand I really like for dresses ( since that is mostly what I wear) is Diane Von Furstenburg.

    I'm writing a book on vintage style....

    Right now I am just writing the book, so I am not thinking about images. I might either use photographs of my own, or forgo images all together, I will see when I get to that point, which I am not at yet.

    Yes, its sort of like Philip Marlowe,set in LA too. Actually my character is making referances to Philip Marlowe in my stories, as just a nod to him.

    Sure! I am actually writing a series of short stories using the same detective character. I hope to put them into one book one day, eventually the stories will chronicle from the early thirties-late fifties.

    It dosn't have to be televison, it could always be radio....I guess radio has a more mysterious appeal since you can't see the speaker.

    My story is set in 1955, but I could move it back a couple of years. It just has to do with televison, so I can't push it back to far with out it being completely historically inacurrate.
