Debate no longer.
I will display my level of fangeekdom:
You should get (and read) The Secret History of Star Wars. It will explain *everything* -- including all the changing versions of the origin story and character developments -- and blow you away. It is, ultimately, nothing more than...
I wanted to -- but when they put ALL the Germans into identical all-red Fokker triplanes, and all the Brits into all green Sopwith camels, I knew they were dumbing it down to the lowest common denominator, and that I was going to be royally disappointed. And in that, the movie didn't... um...
Yup.
Half the boys I grew up with (self included) would have been drugged to the gills with Ritalin and whatnot.
What do I really miss? I remember when boys (and kids in general) were allowed to BE boys. When you could ride your bike (no goofy helmet) down the street or all the way to the...
Seeing Hoagy Carmichael there reminds me...

I loved Forry. He was a true gentleman, and a very nice man. Always had time to sit and talk at the conventions.
I still miss you, Forry. I always will.
Thanks for everything.

(I loaned them my reproduction of the "blackbird" prop to stick in the box office window.)
My Kanto friends are all reporting in safely. We still haven't heard from a couple of friends in Sendai, and I'm a bit worried about them. I know things are a bit disrupted out there now, though.
Will do. I'm going to be putting together a "this was the journey" PDF with a pile o photos for some friends, so I'll provide a link to it when it's done.
I'm trying. The cousins here -- who are all at about fifteen or twenty years older than I, and who actually grew up with my dad as their...
