It is run by a (c)3 foundation so yes at least part of it would be. A contribution w/o the flight would be all tax deductible, but if you get a ride from the flight I'm not sure if it is all deductible.
I don't think Burlington had any Huckel hats at all this year. I looked at numerous BCF in several states when I was travelling. The only hats they had were a cheap feeling Steve Harvey hat.
If you live in South Carolina then you definitely want fur. Wool will shrink and be difficult in that hot, humid environment. Look for a good buy in an antique shop.
That Jaxon Bogart would probably b a good choice.
Well said Art. The very idea of grading art by a numbering system. It really is simple, you go by your trust and respect for who you buy hats from. It's reputation for the business or the hatmaker. I have found they will send pics and tell you this is what I have or what this person's work...
I bet majormoore, JP designs and probably several others around here could make that hat for a lot less than they want for one. It is very typical for western hat makers to charge tremendous amounts for hats that others will make just as good for much less. But well known makers can and do...
I'd get Mike Moore, majormoore to do it. http://www.buckaroohatters.com/
He'd do it for a great price and he even has the antique tools to make a pencil roll the way they did it back then. Of course he also makes a fantastic Boss of the Plains style with the flat top and wide flat brim...
I have had several Akubra and I have a slight LO. All of my new Akubras and many of my hats in general have a bit of an uncomfortableness to them especially felt at the front.
I find that with a bit of wear the Akubra will conform to my head shape. I also find Akubras are good at this...
Alright here we go, I am posting pics. I said I never would, but for the Major I will. I cannot see in the sun w/o glasses, so the squinting is bad. Sorry. The hats are all of the style I prefer; tall crown 2 1/2 to 2 3/4" brim.
Beaver featherlight made by Major Moore. It has a feather, I...
No, you are right Mingo, that's why I said he was famous for that OR, but that there are literally thousands of pics of him in hats. He was a true hat wearer. He is seen in beater fedoras and westerns and dress hats. No president after him wore hats like he did, it's too bad. Then again, men...
That's a great hat and a good look too. I lovew the way he wears the hat, it reminds me of my grandfather. A classic western look of that time.
He was born in Toadsuck, TX. Dang, that's a good name. Wonder who ever thought of that name for a town.
Thanks for sharing.
Being neither Jewish nor having a black fedora, I have no dog in this hunt, but do find the topic quite interesting. I guess black is popular with these people for the same reason it is for the Amish, it is simple and yet dignified. It is not flashy, but it can command enough respect. Just a...
 My gawd man, you just don't know when to shut up do you? I don't care what your opinion is of these people politically OK? JEESH! You don't know what you are talking about, you are just fomenting. Reagan wore hats like he had on in his photos long long before he was president or...
I certainly think you could make an argument for say having the skill when your pilots mainly fly in areas where the is predominant cloudless sky or in aircraft that fly high enough to almost always fly above the cloud cover.
Certainly every navigator who flew even probably up until the 80's...
