Prosciutto and capicola (gabagool), is just the Italian version of bacon. Cured, but using different spices resulting in a different taste than our traditional bacon. Also their bacon is cured but usually not smoked.
Fatback comes from guess where, yes the back of the pig. :)
It was...
Yes. In the south we have that meat in several forms. It is isn't called bacon, but it is cured just the same. Many areas here make it their own version of country ham, southern ham, etc.
They also have it uncured, which we do as well, uncured ham cuts. Same stuff different names.
No sir. It was something I remember from several yrs ago that had been stored away in the back of the useless info, which I have too much of, I need to make room for useful info in this head.
When I was still in the business of searching for warbirds I did find 2 P-40's on the edge of Siberia...
Seems they thought it was wool. I think you got a good deal. It certainly is a fur felt hat, vintage Stetson. I would also tend to think it is Nutria. I like Nutria hats.
Woodfluter I imagine some other folks here will weigh in on this. I always remove the wire. I have seen metal and plastic wires. Essentially it keep the hat from moving too far from its original shape. IT doesn't keep them from shrinking which they can do of course.
Like Kabuto and his...
No it isn't called an Open Road. The reason many of us call it the Open Road is because for many years Akubra made the Open Road for Stetson. That was back when the Open Road was "our kind of hat". Obviously the Open Road is probably a trademarked name for hats because of the many years of...
Right. Unless you're in the military. NEVER! Heat is but a state of mind, but bad fashion in pics lasts for eternity. ;)
Actually a light colored long sleeve is often cooler than short sleeves. By the way jpbales, the hats do give you a good look.
Beat on that campdraft a bit and get it in a few rain showers and it will soften up like butter. Same for the Fed. And in time it will fit a LO just fine. It just takes a while.
Oh and I havent checked the new campdraft in a while, but they may have the same wire under the sweat as the fed...
Which is why several of their pilots, especially the ones on the Russian front fighting inferior Ruskie planes, shot down over 300. Most of the Germans that did get shot down were shot down by lend lease P-40's.
Thatr is jet fuel, dumping out of crevices from sections of the burner cans. Yes, many jets of that age and newer ones too have a love for peeing everywhere they stay.
The SR71 was so bad about leaking fuel that they had to put a very low flammability and low vapor fuel in them.
The new Stetson is made in silverbelly and black. I would buy the Akubra Campdraft if I wanted a new OR. You may have to wait to get the silverbelly, but I heard they have them in stock right now.
I will also say that Stetson's sb is really far more tan than silver. It used to be more silver...
Not guns but you gun guys make like this.
Riding Crop from 1945. My great uncle was an aid to McArthur and this was made in the Philippines.
My Father's Survival Knife while he was in the Navy. This knife flew over Cuba 15 hrs a day for months and ended up over country in...
I have a S&W 681, nickel, fixed sight version of the 586. 4" 357 is a fine sturdy gun. I carry mine hunting as a back up especially if hunting something that could hunt back or in any area where something might attack us or that has a lot of snakes.
I trust it and it takes abuse and rain or...
I was there a few weeks ago while shooting at Nemacolin and staying at Falling Rock.
Very neat place.
I would take that place over Hearst Castle and the Biltmore every day of the week. I much prefer to feel the surrounding of nature than grandness and I will not have furniture in my house...
They've been doing it for years with aircraft.
They make entire airframes out of epoxies, and props as well. They are stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum and usually plastic.
The modern car is made far better and will on average last far longer than those old cars. And I love old...
Get some smaller cigars. First let them go out on their own. Second you don't wanna fire that puppy back up if it has been sitting longer than an hour or so. They get yuck. And they will stink up everything. There are some excellent choices in petit coronas out there. Great smokes quick...
It will be 90+ degrees here next week. I will wear seer sucker still until well into the fall. Until the heat breaks.
I would never, ever wear shorts for business casual, no matter the temp or time of year. Period.
I will wear straws until I can wear felt and not sweat to death. When do...
I say Akubra because they made the Open Road for Stetson and put a Stetson sweat on it. But that OR style Akubra hat is the same as the Open Road was for years. The very same hat as was the OR for years.
