Well, if you make it to the QM this year then the first round in the OB is on me... ;)
Who am I kidding, I'll be buying rounds all night - they have a Betty Ford down the street with a drive-thru...
Hey - I'm 43 and living more than I did at 33. Life is what you make of it... Now I've made adjustments - I cannot do things in the gym the same way I did at 23, but I have to say keeping active has made the barameter of "age" and non-issue...
Sweet ride! My parents still have my '64 Bonneville convertible stored in their garage for my eventual pick-up (been sitting there for 15 years now)... She's about half restored and has the same paint as your wagon. Great cars!
If you ever have the chance - try Thomas Kemper Root Beer... They make it at their brewery up in Washington - along with some mighty tasty real stuff....
BTW - Nice Avatar... ;)
Funny, beer is the "safe" drink for me... Guiness is the beer of choice, unless I can find RedHook... I guess it is "safe" because the volume limits the impact...
Tequila gets me in trouble - but it's a lot of fun... ;)
Well, let's put it this way... My wife's divorce attorney had an exhibit enumerating the number of jackets I've purchased over the last 5 years... She'll probably want me to divide them in half - not take half the jackets mind you - but actually cut them all in half... :rage:
There are a couple things that can be done - I've had success with both. The good old "hot water" treatment can be selectively applied across the back shoulder seams. Letting the jacket dry in the full sun will provide a bit of shrinkage.
Another thing that few have tried - but it has...
This can be a touchy subject. Reproducing a "current" jacket, i.e. a squadron currently active, could be misconstrued as representing yourself as an actual member of that force. Generally, I don't see many collectors doing something like this. What I do see that I personally object to is...
Yep! Mine are "natural" i.e. not tinted, but I would not mind if they were that shade... Very nice - and stay away from US Customs. I'd hate the thought of those beauties being thrown into an incinerator...
A buddy of mine works for Boot Barn in LA. Their distribution center in Vegas accidentally loaded an LA-bound truck with elephant skin boots. Word leaked out somehow and before they could get the truck turned around at the state line, the truck and all the inventory was seized. They burned...
A couple points:
Kangaroo: I’ve owned several jackets made from various tannages of kangaroo. I’ve purchased hides from David Morgan (whip maker for all 4 Indiana Jones movies now) and had jackets made and have also purchased an Indy jacket as well as an A2 made from kangaroo from US Wings...
The FQHH jacket I've owned do tend to soften with time, and are honestly quite beautiful examples of distinctive grain and patina in how they age... Getting there can be a challange and a little frustrating at times. I had Aero make me a private label A2 in FQHH. Now, the A2 is not the best...
Not in vintage, but what the hell... ;)
At work (My admin so kindly snapped this one of me with her phone)...
Most definitely not at work...
And enjoying the last drops of a "kitchen sink" sundae at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Walt Disney World with Patterson Jr. next to me...
