I have many fond memories of Danville. My grandparents lived up at the top of Mt. Aire and I spent quite a bit of time there as a young boy. We'd watch the fireworks over Mt Diablo every 4th of July. We lived in Pleasant Hill. Man, it has changed a lot in 30 years!
It would at that - but might be a bit like taking a backstage tour at a sausage factory! (grin)
You would see little details in the gear that represent a lot of blood, sweat, and tears - as well as swags and compromises. My efforts have been relegated to the last 4 years, and there I am just...
Michaelson is, as always, being very humble. During the entire affair, he acted as my sounding board and general "voice of reason". It seems like a lot more than 3 years ago.
The whole evolution of the thing was on a very grand scale identical to so many other skirmishes over what are...
Well, you'd have your headgear holding the cap down (or would that technically be "up"?) during that particular manuever! (grin)
They do not tend to fit very snug. Also, they do lend themselves well to putting a bit of cardboard into the band to adjust the size.
I checked on Friday, but was only given the standard Peter Botwright answer, "Soon..." It is supposed to ship from the UK this week, to arrive with their US Agent late this/early next week. He covers the import duties, etc. Then he overnights it out to me.
I too look forward to this one -...
LOL! 195 ponies from 1950 ain't nothing to spit at! While I may be sporting a few more, I've become attached to the lines on this particular vintage Mustang. She has enough "retro" to remind one of the '68 that McQueen used to spank a Charger with in Bullitt.
I have to say, though - there...
I just read through the posts over on COW. I was so hacked-off at the end that I unlocked the thread and put in my 2-bits. Not to stir it up, but I hit flash-boil over the misguided whinning...
Gee - my first post over there in 6 months?
There - I feel better...
Well, I'm the "dirty ba***rd" that opened the floodgates on the first batch of Idols. I was tired of the crappy ones making such high claims on eBay, so I threw mine out there for (what I thought was an obscene price) $800 - just to make a point. Well, somebody bit hard, then a second one...
Well, I accumulate them and then decide what I really want. Then I'll gradually sell the excess off - or make a few nice Christmas / Birthday presents out of them.
Right now I'm down to just a few - a FS russet horsehide w/OD thread, and a Real McCoy's Werber pattern A2. I also have 2 navy...
Yep - Jerry is one of the good guys. I picked-up my original Mk VII bag from him - $10 unissued new a few years back. He makes the best reproduction crusher at any price. Mine too ran a bit larger than the 7 3/4 it is marked - but that worked better for me anyway.
Sorry - I'm not a fan of ANY vodka. I've tried the top shelf stuff, and can tolerate a shot if it is ice-cold.
I've always been one who needs strong flavors - comes from my Italian half. Now, compare the Italians to the French; IMHO the Italians are the cooks, and the French just cover...
Well, there are a LOT of reasons I need to be bulking down - but that is a new one!
I saw your PM over on COW - thanks for the friendly wave. I suppose I'll take a gander at the topics this afternoon to see what the hot topics are. I have to say I'm feeling like a fish out of...
Absolutely will do, my friend! Looking forward to the next time we can sit at the same watering hole and share some stories and spirits!
Regards,
-Todd
Hmmmm.... It very well may be. Mark 31? Would that refer to the original 1931 specs issued for the A2? I may have to give Dave a call - but I'd love to hear some recon on tomorrow's trip!
