Hello All,
I recently purchased this Cavanaugh in a very soft fur - much softer that any sheared beaver hats I own. The seller was not certain what fur was used. The hat is a dark chestnut brown with a lighter streak above the hatband. It is finished with a Cavanagh Edge. I love this new...
Bright Young Things
Just watching Bright Young Things and besides enjoying the movie I'm dying to find out who made, where to find, the very dark brown velvet finish fedora that Miles wears to the race track. I also really like the wardrobes in this movie.
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this. I did without for two years before my family "convinced" me that I should give in a buy a TV. It's been several months now that I have a TV and cable and I'm seriously considering cancelling my service - the cable modem is nice but programming and...
MK, Thank you. Thinking back on sweaters and sweater vests I have owned, you seem to have identified a challenge that I had never put in words. Part of my preference for waistcoats is that they are opaque and, on me at least, tend to stay in place better. I do very much like the look and...
I don't know that I see the total demise of the necktie, magazines and newspapers seem to make these (and opposing) declarations every so often. I can however confirm that there will be one person wearing bowtie or ascot on a regular basis during my lifetime.
I buy local or organic where possible. There is quite a lot of debate over the health benefits but, in some narrow examples certain benefits have been demonstrated (i.e. commercially produced Florida oranges measuring vitamin C in micrograms while organic producers in the same state have...
I know this is a bit late but, the subject is one that interests me. The "tradition" of the diamond engagement ring is largely the result of a very clever marketing campaign by DeBeers. Prior to the 1940's there were a wide variety of engagement rings - variations on the eternity ring, promise...
Do you ever listen to Sidi Mansour by Rimitti? Years ago, I was forutnate engough to see her perform and share tea with her after the performance while living in Tunisia.
Great choice, I'm listening to the Complete Roulette Sarah Vaughan Studio Sessions - I put in disk three and "Baubles, Bangles and Beads" is playing while I type this note.
That's a very handsome overcoat - I find myself wearing more and more tweed and love to combine it with a heavy silk scarf as you do in that last photograph.:eusa_clap
Heidi has complained that she feels lost in an ocean of lizards and hat wearing puppies (all extraordinarily cute BTW) so I have agreed to reply to my own post and move her photo down the line...
I am certain someone more knowledgeable than myself will know how long they have been in use in Asia (quite a long time, I believe) but, I do know that Winston Churchill was sometimes seen wearing a Persian Lambswool hat that you can find listed these days as an Ambassador or Envoy hat. I have...
I should have used the buy it now feature. Someone beat me to this bear fur hat that sounded like it would fit. Now it's back to searching for persian lamb in similar proportions - and, if possible, similar price...
Alan Rouleau on Newbury St. is quite good and has also been making custon leather clothing for the past few years. I am not certain about his prices for tailoring leather, they may be a bit higer than others.

The Secret Agent based on the Conrad novel. It has been quite some time since we read Conrad so I can't say much about the adaptation. I did however, enjoy the movie.
Tough one, some people might say it's my bow ties and ascots or too many hats (ask my girlfriend). However, what most don't see are the silk undergarments... Fine silk woven to stretch and breathe is comfortable in any weather.
