You are being argumentative. I relayed a real experience to ccajackson to highlight the fact that PB gives exceptional quality hats for the money. I don't expect to sell my hat for $2000 nor do I plan to do any "research" on the matter. It is noted that you don't believe a hat like mine is...
Well, I could not see a difference between his hat tagged at $1999 and mine, and I can not think of reason why he would want to mislead me so I'll take his word for it.
ccajackson, just for reference, I walked into JJ Hat Center(One of the last great old time hat shops left in NYC) in mid town Manhattan last summer to have them do a spot repair of a loose stitch on the sweat band of my PanamaBob Montecristi that I paid $250 for. The manager, who's been there...
Not sure what the grade is but it's a Montecristi and has about 24x25 WPI.
I have two Panama's, the Montecristi(which I wear 90% of the time) and a Cuenca that I wear for yardwork or when I know I'm work up a good sweat.
Both from PB.
I like the little head...I told Art to give me a "Men in Black" look ;-)
The head band is a burgundy color with what I call a "chardonnay" stripe on the knot, Art fabricated it from vintage material at my request.
Here's a better shot...
Hi Ken, what ever style you choose, give it to Art or any of the other masters for blocking, it will be money well spent. Art sends you a conformer device to take an actual mold of your head shape which let's him block the hat to exactly your fit...I don't know if the other milliners do that...
Hi ccajackson, My own experience with several Panamas is that they don't breath a hell of a lot(obviously more than a felt), especially my 600 WPI Montecristi. I found myself frequently taking the hat off on hot days to dry off the sweat. You really should be looking at a semi-colado or other...
Just hanging out at the Spice Market restaurant in the Meat packing district in lower Manhattan. Montecristi from PB, blocked by Art...perfect Panama hat day!
Great Hexenmeister, I've been eying them myself for the last eight months but also hesitated to pull the trigger. I'd be really interested to know how good a job they did interpreting your measurements. The main appeal of Indochino was the concept of getting a made to measure suit so cheap.
My favorite suit
This is hands down my favorite suit of my entire wardrobe for many reasons. First, it's a Scabal, considered to be one of the top fabric manufacturers in the world. The suit is made in Germany and pictures can not begin to describe the quality and feel of this piece. The...
I've seen some ugly shoes out there just as I've seen some ugly "Memsahibs" so I suppose there is a time when a tradesman/stranger fills the ticket.
That said, I agree with you cookie that knowing how to shine one's shoes can be very rewarding...I'm still learning. BUT, I love the whole...
Don't throw you multi-blade away yet!
I'm excited, all the components are in place and tomorrow I'm going to attempt my first straight razor shave. I've gotten tremendous information from the straightrazorplace forum and I hope not to be very nicked up this time tomorrow. But that said, I...
Try Paul Fredrick (paulfredrick.com) trim fit shirts. They have a great intro offer for new customers, you can buy up to four shirts for $19.95 each with a broad selection of colors, collars, cuffs and sleeve lengths.
Don't let "Trim fit" scare you, I'm a full framed guy(17 neck) but the...
I posted this on "What do you use to shave? Merged Thread" but it seem more apropos to this thread.
I've been using a Mach 3 turbo for as long as it's been around and have been more or less satisfied with it. Recently I caught the straight razor bug and went for my first straight...
Hi Bluesman, bottom line is that it's still fighting the shape of your head. Art had to re-block my Montecristi twice to tame it.
Try wearing the hat and then steaming it with an iron while it's on your head, once you feel it moistening up, start rolling the brim with your fingers to shape...
I've been using a Mach 3 turbo for as long as it's been around and have been more or less satisfied with it. Recently I caught the straight razor bug and went for my first straight razor(disposable type) shave in Manhattan and was surprised how much closer a shave I could get...I actually did...
