Modern Lock
I visited Lock & Co last fall, and took this picture of their "Coke" display:
Not a good shot, as you requested, but I hope you can judge their brim curl by it. Not too bad, in my opinion.
Silk finish
I got this charcoal porkpie in silk finish a couple of weeks ago:
With this ARTistic bow treatment:
Closeup of the finish:
The felt is very soft and pliable, and the finish is great, also for getting attention from women ;). But then again you may not want...
I was thinking of ski boots myself, but here in Norway the welts on the side of the toe would have been broader, I think, for ski boots. And yes, these are hobnails, which also speaks against ski boots, in my opinion. Maybe also they are too nicely made for being intended for rough use in the...
Norwegian work boots
Taught I would share my thrift store find last week:
A pair of old square toe work boots, made by the "Jarl" (which means "Earl") factory her in Trondheim, probably before 1923 when the factory moved to another city.
Too small for me (size 41), but I just had to buy...
Not a panama, but similar style. This one in "Canadian Beaver Luxury Finish" .(The "optimo ridge" is not very visible in the picture, but it is there) If anyone have a name for this style, it would be easier to search for it :)
Great bowler, or rather melone :)
I like that brim, is there a special designation for that type of brim?
I could seriously consider to wear a bowler like this one.
Thanks for showing.
I bought my kidskin SA Madison Boots from Shoebuy a couple of years ago. I didn't experience any problems with Shoebuy, except the loooong shipping time (to Norway). The boots are a bit narrow for my 2-3E feet, but otherwise they fit an feel fine to me. My only complaint are the rubber heels...
Aero Flex
Very interesting!
I don't know if you saw my post in the Bowler/Darby thread about my Mallory with "Mallory Registered Aero Flex"?
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showpost.php?p=943661&postcount=354
Usually I am a bit reluctant about showing my face on the net, for two reasons:
1. a general internet paranoia
2. the man on the pictures is not me! This guy is much older and looks more worn out than I am, I don't know how he all ways manage to take my place
:p
So maybe reason no 2 cancels...
Thanks daizawaguy and Feraud. I seem to remember there is a thread somewhere around about hats inspired by movies, but I couldn't find it :)
The felt is chocolate. Live it's a little darker than in the pictures.
The "Tommy Johnsen"
Long overdue, let me present my first work of Art, the "Tommy Johnson". Mr. Fawcett made this hat for me in may last year, but because of "technical circumstances" it hasn't been photographed before now.
Not meant to be an exact copy, this hat is inspired by...
Mallory bowler - with cracks
I got this Mallory bowler off eBay some time ago. The hat looked nice in the pictures, and was in my size, so I was happy to get the winning bid.
Nice inside, "Styled for Wormser hat stores".
Would very much like to have this hat dated, and maybe the...
Hair brush?
Last summer I bought this beautiful monogrammed ivory brush at a thrift store for about $3:
I took it for a clothes brush, bout would you say it is a hair brush? The bristle are rather stiff, so it would do a good job on dandruff :)
Pecards
Thanks,
will try to get hold of a small can to try it out.
Lexol:
Have tried it on a few hat sweatbands, works well, but I think I prefer to use a cream on shoes and boots.
Silicone
I just want to stress that I'm very far from being an expert on leather care. My little knowledge of leather mostly comes from making and collecting knives, and most Norwegian knives have leather sheaths. One of the main suppliers of leather to knife makers here recommends using...
Or, as I did with both of my Aero orders (and other e-mail orders too), be sure to include all your specifications in all your e-mails. It worked nearly perfect for me, the only miss was that one of the jackets did not get the name tag i had asked for. When I told Amanda, she offered to take...
Which Pecard product?
A lot of you loungers seem to be happy with Pecard leather conditioning. However, at their site http://www.pecard.com/ they list several different groups of leather care products, apparently with different properties. In a coupel of categories they even list some...
And hi to you, Smithy!
I live just a few hundred meters above Solsiden, at Rosenborg. Hope you don't miss Trondheim too much :)
But as the temperature in Melbourne today is about 30 C higher than it is here, maybe I am the one who wants to go to Australia!
