Aero sweater
My new Aero "Classic Off-White Rollneck Sweater" has kept me warm in the freezing cold weather recently. ( -20 C).
Very comfortable and good quality, and it seems to have slipped through the recent price increase too :)
Made by BRENIRE ,which seems to be an Aero-like...
Alongé for the US market?
A few days ago I took some pictures of my Alongé porkpie, and was surprised to find these US tags as well. I bought this from a US seller on eBay some time ago, so this hat has made a few Atlantic crossings! Or can the printing on the sweatband in English (Blended...
Thanks, then I can start with the ribbon :)
I found this at about.com : How to Clean Mold From Leather, but I am concerned about the gold print on the sweatband. Maybe I just have to try it out very carefully.
Cleaning sweatband
Have tried to search the forum, but can't seem to find anything about cleaning sweatbands? I have a hat with a beautiful sweatband, good quality leather and beautiful printing, but it is stained and has some molding. I don't want to replace it, but how do I remove the...
Dear Art,
I am sorry to hear that Mr. Brown apparently have taken credit for your work, of which I myself own a beautiful example. To me it seems so ridiculous to do such a thing, both for him personally and for his business, that I tend to look for some explanation. This article is written...
Tough treatment
Gentlemen,
I don't know any thing about Dave Brown Hats, but it seems to me that a few people here who also really do not know much about the man or his hats have very strong opinions about his enterprise. I can't see that anybody has presented any good reason for doubting his...
Thorogood for Epaulet
Does anybody have any experience with these boots?
http://www.epauletshop.com/servlet/the-343/Thorogood-for-Epaulet-Horsehide/Detail
I kind of like the idea of horsehide boots to go with my Aeroleather horsehide jackets :) , but I am not sure about the wedge sole. I...
I find them to work very well for me. One could think that the buckle would be unpleasant, but that is not my experience. The big advantage of the Hat Flap is that it also cover your neck, great in chilly winds.
Capmaker in London
No cap here, but I believe this will be of interest:
A couple of weeks ago I spent a few days in London. In my search for vintage headgear (with little success ) I also visited the markets in East End. In Fournier Street, between Spitafields Market and Brick Lane, I...
"HIS MAJESTY EDWARD VII. AT HOMBURG."
Got this postcard off eBay a few weeks ago. Issued in "The Star Series" by G. D. & D., London, but "Printed in Bavaria".
His Majesty really appreciated a tall crown on his hat!
The recent issue of the journal of the Norwegian National Library, NB21, has an article about the Svalbard museum, and one of the items from the museum pictured in this article is Willem Barents 400 year old felt hat! Willem Barents was the Dutch explorer who discovered Svalbard in 1597. He...
Amanda is amazing
One may wonder how many jackets Aero sells just because people love to comunicate with Amanda :)
Seriously, she must mean a lot for the company revenue.
To show Amanda how much she is appreciated, why not just email her the URL to this thread?
Which I will be doing.
Lining?
Great looking, well fitting, Libby. I am about to order a Highwayman myself, I got my first Aero a couple of months ago (50's halfbelt), and I believe that I may have become addicted :)
Can I ask what kind of lining you chose for your jacket?
Here is a recent thread about Christys Adventurer:
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=37940
and my post in this thread:
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showpost.php?p=725629&postcount=22
I do not see my Adventurer as a rugged hat, in my opinion it will look good with suit...
I'll tell The Happy Jumper that his work is appreciated :)
This is "Vintage Brown", I don't have my Aero leather samples available, but I think the Vintage Brown is a bit darker (and less red ?) than "Brown". I like it very much.
The added lenght was Amandas suggestion, and i find it wise to...
Mr Johnson,
I started this thread to tell a little story of how I solved what I consider a problem to me, in a way that could be useful to others, and with a funny twist.
I am Norwegian, and my English is not too good, and I do not always understand the subtleness and "undertones" of your...
It's a 1950's Halfbelt with 2" added length to body and arms, breast pocket on the right side (I am lefthanded), 2 inside pockets, and a sloping front, 1930's style. I like to have the inside pockets, but I can see that over time they will be very visible on the jacket front, because of the...
Jacket in dryer
Actually I was thinking about that myself, but I was afraid that it would be too tough on the jacket. My idea was to put it in the dryer inside a duvet cover for protection, and with a few of my sons' smaller practicing footballs for effect. The jacket is still a bit stiff...
