Found this Borsalino homburg at a thrift market, paid ca $9, a fairly good price, I feel :D

And are we happy about that! (One of my uncles in the resistance was shot, another one incarcerated for 4 years. But that was by the bad Germans :( ). And we still respect the high quality of German products :)
When the jacket is finished, I will absolutely post pictures. Probably in early fall.
Thanks for the input, besdor. A little correction concerning the age: the city's name change took place in 1930, not 1939.

After some testing I believe this is a "anti bouncing" device. Very handy when I have to run to catch the bus! The backpack conversion idea is interesting, but the original shoulder strap is much too short for this. Thank you for the ideas :)
