Griff,
FWIW, the white sole has a function (albeit probably not for most people).
Up until they became 'trendy' and became more prevalent, they been mainly used by farmers and workmen who would walk through muck, dirt, grease, oil, etc..but then have to wear the boots inside. The white...
FWIW,
the "neanderthallic", "orangutanian" long arms that you were appalled at on true motorcycle jackets are actually functional when you sit down on a bike and raise your arms.
in the rural areas of upstate NY you see more of it, but in the city-fied places you'd be looked at oddly.
i do see some men wearing cowboy boots and hats, but it's a rarity.
I found this pair that are still Made in USA, if that is a requirement for someone here:

I have no no idea about the boot or company, personally however.
and bburtner, cheers...
Well, in THAT case, your possibilities are endless, really.
One particular boot that I own and wore today is the Rockport Farnum.
They're sort of dressy but can work with jeans. I don't know if they are still made, but there are always a few new pairs on ebay (that's where I got mine...
I can vouch for the Schott as well.
I have the Schott 740 and it's the hands-down the best out of 3-4 (non vintage) peacoats I've owned.

if you do a search here on Katahdin you will find a couple of threads, and I believe someone here posted pics of them polished. I haven't polished mine, so they look more like nubuck.
I got mine at a local outlet for around $70-80 if I...
it would be much cheaper (and look better, IMHO) if you bought any old Schott Perfecto motorcycle jacket and had someone paint it on.
If you wanted true authenticity, you could find a vintage Schott "one star" perfecto and have it painted.
I like the Timberland Earthkeeper line and have been thinking about getting a pair of boots.
I don't have much experience with Alfani (I bought a pair online from Macy's and returned for a poor fit) but generally Timberlands are pretty decent in MY HUMBLE opinion.
I don't own ANY boots...
i'm actually central NY, I work right in Syracuse and live in a burb north of there.
to be fair, though...my goretex coat and overpants I wear in the cold and rain ain't too sexy or 'manly' looking...
heck, If I refused to ride in all the bad weather here in upstate NY, I wouldn't have a bike lol
hence the bitterness and my willingness to pick on you! :p :D
yes, but wouldn't a 'real man' have ridden his motorcycle in the bad weather? ;)
(i'm just making fun do to my being bitter ~ my bike is sitting in my garage...I need a new battery and decided it would be silly to put a brand new one just in time to sit for 3-4 months due to the upcoming...
