My 50's Stetson had an oilskin. Probably why the sweat is rotted. Thanks for the help everyone. I was hoping for tan/caramel color. Something close to 2" wide but it doesn't have to be exactly 2". Comfort is most important. I have a nice 1950's Stetson that needs a new sweatband. I want to be sure that the flange by the stitching is done properly. I think Akubra needs to use rabbit to keep the hat prices low enough to keep sales high. They were able to make a good sturdy, long lasting hat at a reasonable price. Softening an Akubra Federation IV
Over the years I've done the hand working wet and dry hats to soften them. I've noticed that this can cause fur fibers in the felt to break. hats in the heat : with or without liner ?
I like how liners look but I always end up taking them out. Liners add extra weight and that alone can make a hat feel hotter to me. Once the liner is out I lightly pounce the inside crown to make it look and feel a little nicer.- Brian Niebuhr

I bet you'll get used to the wider brim. MothPrey, the BOTP is no longer made. I thought it was pretty much the perfect hat and was looking forward to getting more. Help with Akubra styles.
I didn't like mine due to the gross low and tapered crown. The crown is only going to taper more with age so why would you want to start with something already way too tapered? I don't understand why Akubra makes almost all of their hats that way these days. How do you feel about the Campdraft?- Brian Niebuhr
