Borsalino overhaul This was a thin ribbon Borsy that really didn't have much character. I've already got several thin ribbon ones anyway so I had Mike put on a 2 inch black ribbon and a wide edge binding to give it a little more style. fedorallover

    Need hat advice

You will have to pay a little more than $100, the Campdraft right now is $115.00 not including shipping. But would fit most of your needs. You can get a custom rabbit fur fedora made to your specs for about $125 from http://www.northwesthats.com/Pricing.html You would have more color...

If you'd actually get one of Mikes fedora's you'd know that low quality isn't the reason his prices are low and thats the "ONLY WAY THEY SELL". Your off hand slights at Mike are a puzzle to me. Anyone that has dealt with him and received one of his hats know that they got a super quality...

So you are in essence complaining that his prices are too low?? That's a first, mostly people complain that prices are too high. However, it is Mike's business and he's entitled to set his prices where ever he wants to. He isn't ripping anyone off. He delivers an excellent product in a...

When I first heard that a guy was making custom 100% beaver felt fedora's for $200, I thought to myself "yes, but what do they look like quality wise". After sampling Mike's work I was more than impressed. The people at Club obi Wan have found him too and are more then happy to be able to...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

So true on that. I have 10 borsys and have compared it to the others and the felt is noticeably thicker. I'm not crazy about the sweatband on this one and wouldn't call it an extra extra quality compared to the others. Still a nice hat though for the price I got it for. fedoralover

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thanks for the info. The liner says it is "Extra Extra Superiore" Quality. I've seen others that just say "Extra", I've always been curious to what that second Extra got you. Or if it was purely marketing. fedora

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

I haven't bought a hat off ebay in quite a while but I couldn't pass up getting this Borsalino on a BIN option. Seller said it was purchased in Italy by his uncle quite a number of years ago. The felt quality is great and in excellent condition and seems to be a bit thicker and higher density...

I can't decide which I like more, the hat or the shirt. Both look great. I love the bow work. fedoralover

Not this time. I forget to do that and I wish I could remember. It's amazing what a reblock and a changing of the ribbon and edge binding can do for a hat. I've had several "beaters" I've taken to Mike and traded them for some time and materials on other hats and then after he's rebuilt them...

Another Make over I've had this Knox fedora for years and after a lot of wear it got relegated to being a yard hat. The sweatband was bad and the edge binding and ribbon were both stained and faded. I looked at it the other day and decided that since the felt was still in very good shape I...

My First Attempt at Making a Fedora.

If you learn how to stitch the ribbon on from the inside of the edges of the bow they will be invisible and makes for a cleaner look. It's a good start, keep in mind most hatters learned a lot by trial and error and experimenting outside the box and coming up with their own way of doing certain...

Vintage Silhouettes Custom Hats - Official Affiliate Thread

Art, great additions. They all look fantastic to me. As to the "Dusty Road" name, just to cover your bases I'd check with this guy first. Dusty Rhodes- Pro wrestler. At least he's wearing a hat. LOL fedoralover

Talked to Mike, the ribbon on the Borsy is 50% cotton and 50% rayon. However he said he could do it with an all Rayon ribbon as well. fedoralover

I really don't know, I would have to ask Mike the next time I see him. I do know that Mike has said he does his edge bindings different than how he's seen others do it. I've never watched him so don't know what the difference is. I know there are different ways and techniques in putting them...
