Borsalino overhaul This was a thin ribbon Borsy that really didn't have much character. I've already got several thin ribbon ones anyway so I had Mike put on a 2 inch black ribbon and a wide edge binding to give it a little more style. fedorallover- fedoralover

If you'd actually get one of Mikes fedora's you'd know that low quality isn't the reason his prices are low and thats the "ONLY WAY THEY SELL". Your off hand slights at Mike are a puzzle to me. So true on that. I have 10 borsys and have compared it to the others and the felt is noticeably thicker. I'm not crazy about the sweatband on this one and wouldn't call it an extra extra quality compared to the others. Still a nice hat though for the price I got it for. fedoralover- fedoralover

Thanks for the info. The liner says it is "Extra Extra Superiore" Quality. I've seen others that just say "Extra", I've always been curious to what that second Extra got you. Or if it was purely marketing. fedora- fedoralover

Not this time. I forget to do that and I wish I could remember. It's amazing what a reblock and a changing of the ribbon and edge binding can do for a hat. I've had several "beaters" I've taken to Mike and traded them for some time and materials on other hats and then after he's rebuilt them...- fedoralover

Another Make over I've had this Knox fedora for years and after a lot of wear it got relegated to being a yard hat. The sweatband was bad and the edge binding and ribbon were both stained and faded. My First Attempt at Making a Fedora.
If you learn how to stitch the ribbon on from the inside of the edges of the bow they will be invisible and makes for a cleaner look. I really don't know, I would have to ask Mike the next time I see him. I do know that Mike has said he does his edge bindings different than how he's seen others do it. I've never watched him so don't know what the difference is. I know there are different ways and techniques in putting them...- fedoralover
