Chinchilla Hat

I have been wearing this around for a while now and have been getting great compliments. It is the chinchilla body I got at the stetson auction.

This is the pin I made for the side of the hat. I like it so much I have started wearing it all the time on my lapel.

It is 2 kt of natural emeralds and a 1/4 kt diamond on a 1906 50 cent piece cut into a 4 leaf clover.

It was just a body

I pounced it for about about 4 days whenever I had time.

Stetson sells a Beaver and Chinchilla blend as a 1000x hat. The retail is somewhere between $5,000 and $6,000. This one is pure chinchilla. It was a test body that Stetson did. They went with the blend because the chinchilla changed color too much when they added the stiffener. Making the blend fixed the problem for the most part. This one has no stiffener. It is the softest to the touch of any hat I have ever held. And the green on the sides of the liner matches the emeralds.

Since I bought at auction I do not know what the real price is, although, after building this hat I am working on finding out. I have a few interested parties who have seen it in person. I quoted them $3000 on this one without the pin.

I will not say what I paid. What I have to say on this matter will be posted in the observation lounge as it is not appropriate for the fedora section as it applies to all craftsman.
