yet another hair thread. help me pleeeeaaaase?

Here's my advice, for what it's worth:) if you want to finger wave, there are good directions on www.nocturne.com. Go to the swing page and select hairstyles. Are you brushing your hair out completely before you style it? Give it a good brush (but not over brush or you will brush the curl...

    Vintage styles for short hair

www.Nocturne.com has pretty good instructions for different types of sets. Go to the "swing" page and select hairstyles. I bought some aluminum clips a long time ago that I used recently to set waves, but my hair really came out weird!  The good news is my hair grows fairly...

Any other gals growing their hair out?

I have been on a merry-go-round with my hair for the past year! I always wore my hair long and vintage style. I can remember starting to set my own hair when I was about 10, it was just something I did naturally because my mom and her sisters hairstyles were always a '40s version of how they...

    Hair Help!

Make sure you have the right kind of haircut for your hair texture. I love the look of long perfectly waved hair ala Rita Hayworth, but for my texture of hair, it would never work. If you have the right haircut it will be a breeze to style, always look good and you won't get frustrated...

What do you keep your makeup in at home.

I have a vanity table that I keep all my stuff on. It only has one drawer, though, so it gets pretty messy on top:)

    Purse and Shoe addiction!

Beautiful bag, Bonnie Jean!! Now I wish I had all those handbags of my moms from the 40's and 50's that she wanted to give me. I proclaimed them all "Old Lady" bags. Of course, this was years ago before I had any "taste"lol

What is your personal 'No-No' for makeup, hair, & wardrobe?

No eyeliner or mascara under eyes. I look like a raccoon ready for Halloween! Mascara can only be brown, black is to harsh for me, and no clumps! I use Lash Stylist by Maybelline. It has a comb instead of a brush. I love this mascara!:D I can only wear orangey shades of lipstick...

Oh the Stigma with wearing seamed fully fashioned stockings!

I like the selection they have. Have you ever tried the thigh highs (non garter)? I ordered a few pairs from Hanes, this was my first time wearing stockings instead of pantyhose, and I swear, they ran almost as soon as I put them on! How many wearings do you usually get per stocking?

    Vintage styles for short hair

Hi Ladies - Well I did it again, just when I promised myself I would let my hair grow out, I went had it cut super short again, and am already having remorse at not being able to vintage style it. Any ideas on how I can style a super short (pixie) hair style in a vintagey way?

    Vintage Lane Bryant

Rosie, thanks so much for posting these pages!! I order from Lane Bryant and Roman's myself. . It is so great to see that plus size women in the Golden Era could be so fashionable! Although none of the models on these pages looks to be a plus size. Do you know what size was considered a...

    Maisie Dobbs Mystery Series

:( I was disappointed to hear about the modernazation of the character...I love period books (especially mysteries), but like a lot of you, only when the character is believable in the time period they are supposed to be in! I'm going to look for the series in the library instead of buying...
