I never heard of this store, but I checked on line and they do have some really cute things! Thanks for the suggestion:) It's never easy to find anything in a plus size. I usually buy at Romans or Lane Bryant (catalog).
Some luck on the East Coast..
Hi Ladies, I went to my local CVS this a.m.. They did have a huge display as soon as you walked in, but curiously, there was nothing in the display to indicate this was a vintage inspired or limited edition, line. I would have walked right by it, if I wasn't...
Thanks for the great recommendation!
Thanks to the great reviews, I bought a set of hot sticks. I absolutely love them!
I have only used them for touch ups so far, but I was very pleased that the smaller rods gave me the same effect as pincurling.
My only disappointment was that they...
I tried the beauty generator last night, it was OK, but I don't think the color changed when I tried different shades of rougue.
I am glad they brought back the vintage model looks, but I still miss Margo's letters:( I was looking forward to trying the new moisturizer, but at $45. it's a bit...
I love long dressing gowns, and long robes too. I hate all those short (way above the knee) robes that are popular.
I have a very pretty navy blue one I bought from Talbots several years ago, but they seem very hard to find recently, just wearing it makes me feel pretty!
I agree that...
On the days I do shampoo, I do it at night and set it. I dry it slightly with a towel until damp then put my setting lotion in. I blot it a bit with the towel so it is not drippy (but not dry either) It can't be too wet, or the curl will not take and will still be wet in the morning. Also, you...
I wash and condition every other day. Lately I have been using the Wash-n-Curl shampoo, I pin curl my just washed hair after I put my setting lotion in. It will keep looking good until the next washing.
I just bought some Hot Sticks, since they got such a good recommendation here at the...
I was so happy to find this today in the supermarket!
I haven't used it for several years, in fact, I thought they stopped making it. It was really great for breaking down and softening a tight set, although using too much would make your hair very greasy. Does any one else use it?
I don't know if this will help, I don't have a pin curl winder myself, but I do use a regular unsharpened pencil to wind my curls. My hair is super short and without it, I would never get real curls, just frizz. When my hair is wet and I have combed and put my setting lotion in, I wind my hair...
When I wore my hair in a pageboy, I always swept one side back with a comb. If yours slip out, try putting a bobby pin behind. Vermont Country Store www.vermontcountrystore.com, also makes some especially for fine hair, if that is your problem, as it was mine:) )
I got mine from Vermont Country Store www.Vermontcountrystore.com.
They are short ( what my mother would call "pants boots", because they are just a little above the ankle). I have them in black and they saw me through the blizzard we had here in Northeast last year.:)
I love Coldwater Creek www.coldwatercreek.com. Not all vintage, per se, but some pieces are vintage inspired, especially their dresses. And they have fantastic sales in their online Outlet:) ! They also have stores across the country.
Thanks for the great advice everyone!
I usually do a pin curl cold set overnight, using Lottabody, but sometimes I use the steam rollers. I'm going to try the small round brush idea, I can't wait for my hair to grow out so I can try some of the longer styles again!:)
One more question, is...
When my hair was long (and I was younger:) ) I used the Caruso rollers exclusively. They had just come out, and you needed salt in the water for the steam . This was the early '90's and I used to wear my hair in a pageboy. The set lasted forever and I used them until they were finally worn out...
Hi Ladies: Here's my question.....
When you unpin or unroll your hair after a set, do you brush it out completely first, before you attempt to style it, or do you gently comb it into place?
I read in one of my vintage hair books, that you should never attempt to style your hair until you...
I often wear my hair with curls like that around my face since my style is a pixie.
The ones I use now are V05 Obey! and Play Gel Wax; Got2b playful pomade (I don't use this often, and I wouldn't recommend it if your hair is oily, it can be very greasy); Garnier Fructis Style Fiber gum putty...
I saw the translucent available (on-line from Walgreens) in both extra coverage and "regular". I was hoping maybe the extra coverage would work instead of using foundation too, now I'm absolutely going to try it!:)
I've seen it several times. It is a very sweet and sentimental movie .
A couple more good Golden Era ones are "Lost in Yonkers" and my very favorite "Avalon".:) :)
Coty Powder
What shade(s) of Coty powder do you ladies use?
Years ago, I used a shade, I can't remember the name exactly, but it was sort of a pinkish and was very complementary with my light skin. It's been a few years since I bought it (I love that it lasts forever!) because I wanted to...
