    Beauty Bargains

I really like La Femme. The price is right at under $5.00 for lipstick ( I like Tangerine, Sunset Orange, Bittersweet and Cranberry) and the rouge which is $3.50 (Russet and Cinnabar are the two I am currently using). I get them at Makeup Mania www.makeupmania.com I did some research...

    The Return of the Milkman!

Hi Folks: I just learned that a neighboring town offers home milk (and dairy) delivery to my town. I signed up and I'm thrilled:) They deliver it in the old fashioned glass bottles. So, I was wondering..... Does anyone else get a visit from the milkman?:)

    Hairstyles for long faces

My face is long too. When I wore my hair longer, it was never past shoulder length. Some "fluff" (full curls) on the sides balanced out my face. I didn't pull back my hair often, except for some side combs. Rolls on the sides of your face also can balance it.:)

Any other gals growing their hair out?

Olive bleu you sound just like me!!lol I too go back and forth between super short pixie hair and longer hair. I just cut it off again yesterday and already am planning to grow it back. It is a vicious cycle:rage: I hate that "in-between" stage, because I look like Herman Munster! I...

    Motherhood & the Vintage Lifestyle

First, Congratulations!!!:) Now, for what it's worth, here is this "veteran" mom of 4's advice. Having children is a huge lifestyle change, but just because you are no longer putting yourself and your needs first, doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of yourself! Little things, like...

    Ms. Lucille Ball

There was another Lucy/Desi movie, I'm not sure if it was made before or after "The Long Long Trailer", but I can't remember the name of it... I don't even remember much of the plot, except Lucy keeps dreaming about James Mason. Anybody know the name?

    *Snoods*

I followed Crystal Face's suggestion and googled knitted hair snood, here's what came up. It does say that the needles are in UK sizes (I don't know what the conversion is:( ) But it would be worth a try to figure it out. [url]www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/hair/snood.htm

The Decline of the Well Put Together Lady

I'm on my soapbox... I think when people criticize us for being "well dressed", they are really criticizing themselves because they know they just threw themselves together and probably know they look like slobs. The "Casual Friday's" in the office, really started a bad trend as to how to...

Marcel Wave iron vs. "regular" curling iron

Thanks for the input..:) I think I'm going to get a triple barrel iron but now I have another question. Do you curl your whole head with the triple barrel or just do the sides and curl the bottom and back somehow else?

Marcel Wave iron vs. "regular" curling iron

Hi Ladies: Can someone tell me what the difference between the two is? For some reason, I always thought a Marcel iron was like those crimping irons popular in the late '80's early' 90's. But from the pictures I've seen, they look like regular curling irons. Also, I've seen a lot posted...

    Sponge rollers---your looks and suggestions?

Another trick for "fishhook" ends is to use curling papers they also go by other names (end papers) Sally Beauty has them. They basically are little rectangles that you wrap the ends of your hair with to keep the ends smooth, then roll as usual. You can also rip up kleenex into small...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I love Besame too. Cherry Red Besame Red Red Noir (a really dark color, but great for night's out :D ) On the low price end, I love la Femme. I have been wearing their "Bittersweet" color which is very similar to my favorite Besame color "Carmine". Loreal Lmtd. Edition Decked in...

    Jewelry boxes

Mine is not vintage, but about 15 years ago, for Christmas my husband bought me one from Bombay Company that looks like a small chest of drawers. It is very beautiful and well made (it actually seems better made than some furniture I own:eek: )

yet another hair thread. help me pleeeeaaaase?

I just saw something in a beauty supply store that you might also consider... A hair rat. You could use it to get a nice classic look for your hair, with a minimum of fussing.
