OPTIMO Long Hair Fedora - 7 5/8 Long Oval - Like New Gray

Hat is sold! As an aside, I'll be damned if I can figure out how to edit the thread title to reflect the sold status. Anj

OPTIMO Long Hair Fedora - 7 5/8 Long Oval - Like New Gray

E-mail sent, Steve. You might want to pull your address before spam-bots get a hold of it. Anj

OPTIMO Long Hair Fedora - 7 5/8 Long Oval - Like New Gray

No problem, but thanks. I knew it was a wider brim than I usually like, but thought the overall proportions might work. Not so much. Just more hat than I like to wear in this style. I could have the brim cut down, but that seems like a shame. I know we have guys here who love the wide brims...

OPTIMO Long Hair Fedora - 7 5/8 Long Oval - Like New Gray

Well, I fought long and hard to score one of the Optimos that have been offered on ebay lately. I di manage to land one of the nicer examples, only to discover that the proportions don't work for my tastes. I should have known, I guess, but my hat lust blinded me to the facts. I'm sure most of...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Good reason to use esnipe, if that's how you want to bid. Pretty fool-proof. Anj

I tweeted about this guy today. Thought I'd add him here, as well. The Clash's Paul Simonon, Rock, Fashion, and Hat trendsetter! Anj

    FS: AB Deluxe

Wow. I don't ever wear Indy style hats, and this is almost tempting to even me at that price. Good luck to you and your friend. It's a beaut, and a helluva deal. Anj

FLer Sighting in Little Italy San Diego?

Wasn't this guy (on the right... I'm on the left), was it? I posted about seeing him in San Diego's Gaslamp district during Comic-Con last year. Never did get a definite ID. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

No problem, and good for you. Like I said, I picked a number where I would be happy either way. As previously suggested, I'll just have to kill the pain with a vintage Borsalino or two. Anj

Off-topic, but the actor who played Ned Ryerson, Stephen Tobolowsky, is a great storyteller with a really wonderful podcast. If you're into that stuff, check out The Tobolowsky Files. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

True enough! It would set me back quite a bit more than my losing bid, though... I think. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I really wanted the long hair Optimo that sold this morning. REALLY wanted it. Wanted it badly enough to come in second place. In the end, I just picked a number that would allow me to be happy to win it and happy not to at the price. Still stings though... just a bit. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Yeah, a nice one even with the nibbles. I was tempted. I helped push it that high. In the end, though, I went for the Borso. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I landed a couple in the last 24 hours. First, a Herbert Johnson. Second was the hat I was really excited about, this vintage Borsalino. My vintage Borsos are probably my favorite hats. They don't pop up every day in my size, so I'm really thrilled to find another one. Now, I cross my...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I won this hat/box combo. The hat will be way too small for me, but the price was too good to pass on. I can use the box and flip the hat (assuming it's reasonably nice). I'm getting the grey hat on the left. Anj

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I couldn't resist this deal for two Open Roads. I'm hoping that one is a nice wearable hat, and the other could be so with some work. We'll see. Fingers crossed. They're also a bit small for me. If I don't think they can be stretched without damage, you'll be seeing them in this space again. Anj

    MY Stetson 100

I think you'll do well with your auction. I just sold a high-end hat right before the holidays, and was very happy with the results. I see the reserve is already met. I'd be going a lot higher if this were one size larger. Best, Anj

    MY Stetson 100

I felt it my duty to throw down a one hundred dollar bid. I'll never win it for that amount, but it had to be done! Best of luck with the auction. It's a beauty. Anj

Anyone been to Hatman Jack's in Whichita?

I have not been there personally. I did send in a trio of hats for various repairs a few years back. The results were mixed. To be honest, I would probably not use them again for hats that I really cherish. Anj
