you're a sweetie, Amy Jeanne! :)
I agree about the way jeans look in catalogs! Especially men's work denim. They always look made out of cardboard! lol
In real life I think they're pretty awesome, though.
Totally! Just like a lot of fashion today... just looking for the next trend. Some catch on and some don't (for reasons that can be obvious sometimes. lol )
^This :)
Just gotta say, I didn't take anything personally, and I hope that no one took personally if I liked something they thought was ugly. I get a huge kick out of fads from back then- a lot of which were bizarre to say the least.
If we're not supposed to say if we like something, I'll...
LOVE those last two, Cherry Lips! I picked up some pretty obnoxious orange/red vintage fabric at a thrift store so was thinking of similar looks for summer- pairing the wild top with slim pants.
Thanks for this, Amy Jeanne! Was this marketed in a particular way? Like with pants or anything? Just curious (and I want an excuse to wear t shirts more and say it's period correct). ;)
Thanks so much for the comments on my dress :D
Something I do when I try to get everything exactly on grain is use one of those big cardboard cutting mats you can get at fabric stores. They should have a 1 inch grid printed on the top. I'll line up my fabric and pin through it onto the...
Oh my gosh, how clever!! I'll have to try that out sometime :)
I wish I could commission you to make me one, but we're a bit money tight at the moment. :(
Darling blouse, KamiKat! Love the fabric!
Great pjs, Hell's Bells! Welcome to sewing. Your first project came out great!
I just finished this dress this weekend :) The pattern was Eva Dress' 1932 Street or Tea Frock. I posted more about it on my blog here.
Oh wow- those strappy ones are beautiful!
My boots were also hard on the inside. I just added jell insoles/arch support inserts and it was better :)
But nails? How painful!
I own a pair, they're the two tone brown ones. Love them!
They ran VERY narrow. I have narrow feet and I had to get mine stretched. Maybe that's why they remade them?
I bought mine about three years ago.
I looked this up because I was interested.
Even though Stop Staring calls it the B Davis dress, some of the folks who bought wholesale are calling it the Bette Davis dress, in some cases showing a photo of the star in page of the dress for sale.
I can understand being somewhat upset about...
AAH! That's AWESOME. Wow. One of my favorite periods and looks. It's definitely Edwardian. I'd say 1905ish, maybe a little later but earlier than 1912. STUNNING!
